He came in first.

4. Iowa isn't about delegates it's about proving yourself
The headline tomorrow is that Obama won a state that is over 90% white and got thousands of new voters out to the polls.

6. How come Clinton got one more if Edwards was ahead? I am
confused -- and why did Obama's 8% difference translate just in one more delegate?

Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 01:53 AM by dugggy
as another loser, Romney said.
You don't declare victory if you score 1 more run in the 1st inning.

16. Sure, but remember Kirk Gibson's homer in 1988?
That was only in the first Series game, but it might as well have won them the entire championship...

....sometimes how you open affects the rest of the game.

18. Shows why Romney lost. He thinks baseball and the nomination are simular.
They aren't, not in the slightest.

It's a profoundly stupid statement.

If he had said "It ain't over till it's over," that would have been, at least, true.

11. In another thread, you were ready to accept Huck as the (r) nominee.
Did you have a change of heart about the importance of the Iowa caucus?

13. Big win for Edwards, though
Didn't he spend WAY less than the other two? That's a damn good showing that represents a true grassroots groundswell, not a host of bought votes. Onward and upward, Johnnie!

14. Percentage-wise, it's fairly sizable.
BO--38%
JE--30%
HC--29%

I personally find our delegate system quite confusing, but I suspect I'm not the only one...for instace, how the hell did Clinton (with 29%) garner one more delegate than Edwards (with 30%)?

20. The Dem causus system in Iowa is a very interesting and complicated
exercise.

Read up on it if you want to understand it, because I don't have the time or energy to explain what is already much better and concisely explained (in a page or teo) somewhere else.
