Infuriated - Obama email being circulated by church group

For the first time in all these months that I've heard about the nasty Obama email, I just received in it my email - forwarded to me from a nurse who lives in S. Carolina. She was too ignorant to cut and paste, so I have the place of origin and the name of the person who initiated it, including home phone, fax and email. The message is disgusting, but claims to be "verified by Snopes" and encourages everyone to forward to save our country. I am literally shaking, I am so angry. I have already responded to her, but I don't know if I should respond to the group who is forwarding this, or if I should post the name of the group here. We have got to start fighting this.. after his win last night, it's just beginning. Any advice appreciated.. I am livid.

We can't fight it if we don't know what it is about.

time and time again and I won't give it face time on this board. They've ratcheted the rhetoric up a notch, however. I'm going to post the originating group and maybe a good reporter can look into it.

copy to the Obama campaign. Let them deal with it; they know it's coming. And many junk e-mails like that now claim it's been checked by snopes just to throw you off. Sending the snopes link calling it bullshit doesn't hurt either.

Snopes doesn't always have it right.

who wants to 'take over' america or some such thing, falsely stating that he attended a madrassa in Indonesia. I probably don't have that exactly right but it's along those lines.

It should be debunked, of course. I just don't believe most people will fall for that nonsense.

Obama is not my first choice, but I'll be damned if I see racist bigoted crap spewed about any candidate and stand silent. Anyone who brings this up to me is going to get a strong response.

And i asked them where they got this information and they said Email.....I set them straight with the NY TImes story about his religion and schooling...

I would respond to the group, perhaps including the link to snopes.com which in fact lists the rumor as FALSE.

I have a neighbor who's not a stupid man, yet he admits he's uncomfortable with Obama because of the IDEA that he's a Muslim, even though he KNOWS it's not so. Similarly, he's uncomfortable with Clinton because she's a woman, even though he says he KNOWS it shouldn't be an issue.

He knows things are wrong but goes with them anyway. Go figure.

and give the the real snopes link debunking the email. Then tell them how pathetic people are who feel the need to write and distribute these lies.

Calm down and form a game plan for future emails. They seem to be replacing the push/polls somewhat. Personally, I'd rather this BS be spread via email because we have a chance to refute them. Push/poll phone calls don't give us that option.

BTW, it won't matter WHO the Dem candidate is, as I've said many times before, if they can't find any real dirt on them, they'll just make stuff up!

Kerry was "bearing false witness" against Bush ... for lying about why we had to go to war with Iraq ...

Seems those "bible-thumpers" should actually read the bible, and do some research before they spout their venom ...

and make sure you highlight the contact information of the original sender. They can handle it from there. Then send the email back with a "Reply ALL" stating how you did just that. Be sure to copy the campaign office with your reply too.
