Huckabee had a good dig at Romney in his interview with Tweety and KO
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 10:27 AM by Strawman
He said people would rather vote for a guy who seems like he might work alongside them instead of the guy that just laid them off. I think if you boil down the problem with Romney as a candidate to a sentence, that is pretty much it. He's that smug fuckin rich asshole. Even the Republican base seems to be turning against that type. That's good news.

Too bad we won't need to use that line in the general election campaign. Mitt is toast. Even if he somehow end up being the last man standing on their side, there is zero genuine enthusiasm for this guy among the Republican base and he would have a hard time turning out the vote.

1. And Tweety had a good dig on Huck
Saying that he was surprised that he read the jerusalem post based on recent events (him not knowing what the hell has been going on in the world).

There is a sense that the MSM isn't going to tolerate another unsophisticated dolt with kooky fundie ideas. Especially when they know it is not an act that is cloaking an establishment guy like Chimpy whose top priority is really pushing an elitist pro-corporate agenda.

3. Tweety hates him. Sees another GWB in the making--all "beer-with" and no substance.

5. The guy who works beside you can turn out to be on the under-the-table payroll
of the guy who fires you ... the only difference here is, Huckabee is flaunting his associations with the party who loves to fire US Citizens and hires illegal immigrants to break the unions and the backs of the US workers ...

6. I agree
But his appeal shows an appetite for economic populism. It means there is a window for change. In the end, it comes down to which brand of economic populism will prevail, a progressive one that lifts all boats or a sham-populist reactionary one that scapegoats others. I don't think the Republican party will ultimately nominate him, and there will only be one economic populist alternative in Nov., a progressive one.

7. Huck just needs to pull a Katherine Harris and jam a sock down his pants and stand sideways
Tweety would change his tune.

8. And a nice cod piece wouldn't hurt, either. (Sort of like a push-up bra).

9. Then maybe the "sun would start shining on his face" on Tweety's eyes

There does seem to be something a bit homoerotic in Tweety's assessment of what makes an attractive candidate.
