Obama Supporters Should Be Thanking God Hillary Is In This Race
If you believe, like I do, that Barack Obama is the best man for the presidency. And if you believe, like I do, that he will face a touch general-election campaign should be emerge the victor in the primaries. And if you believe, like I do, that a hotly contested primary against a skilled opponent is the best way to sharpen your message and work the kinks out of your campaign....

Then you should be thanking God that Hillary Clinton decided to run for president.

Hillary gives Obama something that John Kerry didn't have in 2004 - a tough primary opponent.

Hillary gives Obama the toughest opponent he'll face in this election, both in the primary and general. She's better known than all the Republicans. She's better funded. She has better connections. She's got the skills, intelligence and experience that other candidates would die for.

Simply put, if Hillary were not running against Barack Obama, Barack Obama would not be as good a candidate as he is right now.

I greatly respect Hillary Clinton, and while the race is far, FAR, from being over, I'd like to think that if, IF, Obama wins the nomination, a great deal of credit should go to the campaign that she and her supporters waged.

If only a candidate like her had run against Kerry in 2004, he might be occupying the White House right now.

1. I doubt it. Kerry didn't motivate people to vote.

4. What? He got 59 million votes. second highest of all time
Unfortunately for us all, GWB got 62 million, the MOST votes of all time.

But look at it this way: more people voted against GWB than any other President in history. Kerry could have run a better campaign, but people were definitely motivated to vote.

8. He could have had better party support and a smart DNC Chairman

whose job was to protect and secure the votes. Not to mention an organized Ohio Democratic Party.

2. if she ran against Kerry, he would've lost to her...
...but its refreshing to see an Obama supporter not shooting off fireworks and popping champagne, but making a rational statement

3. Agreed...sort of. I would not want to take on Edwards in a
two way race.
