Huckabee a Liberal?
One of my favorite kook Conservapuke bloggers is saying that Huckabee is a big liberal if you really look at his record. My question to everybody here is that if Huckabee is their nominee, would that be such a bad thing? I mean, it's good for us because he'll be easy to beat, but even if we wins, will he be a force for good or for evil? Would that really be such a bad thing?

1. He's an evangelical right wing nutjob. But a likeable one. (Sorta like some
people say about GWB.)

2. Economically, he's more liberal than most Repubs
Socially, he's more conservative than most Repubs.

4. Huckabee is the best on the republican side
It would defintely be a big improvement over Bush, Huckabee is intelligent and a moderate to liberal republican.

I still would like a Democrat to win but a Huckabee presidency would not be a disaster like a Guiliani or McCain or Romney.

5. I want THEM to believe it. WE should know better. I heard him talk on MSGOP

last night - very smooth - using a rhetoric hardly distinguishable from Edwards. He was very adept at disguising the religious wingnuttery.

6. Encourage the liberal meme
Huckabee raised taxes while governor of Arkansas. He made government bigger by consolidating schools but not closing school buildings--instead, districts have another administrative layer (and higher school taxes). Since conservatives always say liberals are for taxes and big government, Huckabee's actions in Arkansas fit this definition.

8. Huckleberry has many liberal-consistent stances, but there is a huge difference: abortion.
He is 100% in favor of a Constitutional amendment outlawing abortions in the U.S.

I doubt that he could ever get the GOP nomination embracing that stance.

13. Sorry, I wasn't suggesting that the abortion issue is the single non-liberal issue for Huckleberry.
And, you are correct.

17. well,
he is a right-wing populist aka conservative on social issues, populist on domestic issues. He talks about the working class, poverty, education, and even climate change. The Republican elites hate him. However, that does not make him a moderate nor does it make him an acceptable President. Bottom line, he is not presidential material and his right-wing social stances will alienate a lot of moderate business oriented conservatives.
