Gary Hart: "This is a new day in America. Let's call it hope."
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 03:16 PM by calteacherguy
Senator Obama is a man of principle. He is committed to restoring a sense of national community to America. He believes in restoring our security alliances through active diplomacy and engaging those who disagree with us in constructive dialogue. He restates the requirement that we all give something back to America, to become engaged in the public arena, in the national interest. And, most important, he is the walking embodiment of equality and justice.

Already the Obama candidacy has sent a powerful message around a watching world: The torch has been passed to a new generation of American leaders, and we don't care what color it is.

As one who has struggled throughout a lifetime for restoration of idealism to American politics, I can only smile, and perhaps shed a tear of happiness, that our time may have come.

This is a new day in America. Let's call it hope.

1. didn't clinton...
use the "hope" meme already?

i'm tired of worshipping at the church of perpetual hope. hope is something you have when you have little power over the outcome.

i want results.

2. they can't copywrite a word in the English language
This is not a slogan but a very nice comment on Obama's achievement by a very talented statesman. Gary Hard is now heading a foreign policy think tank. I heard Hart speak, introducing Kerry on September 9, 2006 when Kerry gave his real security speech. Hart spoke of the time in the 1970s when Democratic Senators stood up to the foreign policy nightmares that have predominated in the last 50 years. From what he said then, I take his comments on Obama very seriously - there are very few people I trust on foreign policy, Gary Hart is one of them.

3. Hope, real hope is the beginning of the process that leads to results.
This is a nation that has been depressed for over six years. We need to be stirred to be ignited.
We need to return as a nation back to our roots of optimism if we are going to have the energy as
a nation, as one people to solve our problems, the biggest challenges we have ever faced. This
is our time. Obama is our candidate to take us there.

5. I respect Gary Hart - a lot
After my man (Biden) left the race last night - I am now on board with Senator Obama. Gary Hart said it well.

6. Hope? Well, I hope that he doesn't win the nomination.
I hope that people will not be persuaded by empty speeches and vote for substance. I hope that he doesn't become president.

Is that enough to hope for???
