I Have An Idea... Need InPut From Any & All Edwards Supporters...
I think it's time we took the bull by the horns and give BIG MEDIA a piece of our mind! What do any of you think of bombarding them with LETTERS or NOTES telling them how disgusted we are that THEY basically PUSHED Clinton & Obama on the American people & others as well since the campaigns started up in earnest??

There's a list here at DU where we can write them. I don't think the message should be nasty, but do think we should be FIRM and convicted about what we say. Something along the lines about how we feel that even though the "included" his name as one of the TOP 3 Democratic candidates, they generally ONLY focused on Clinton & Obama! I for one think this played a HUGE roll in Edwards not winning Iowa. But I will have to admit that with Edwards coming in 2nd, he energized more people than ever to donate to him. This also could be a talking point. Had people been "more informed" about him, he may well have had enough money to spend. He was outspent by 6 to 1 and still came in 2nd... yet another point to be emphasized.

I would like some feed-back if you would. Thank you.

2. I would help but would like some stats to refer to.
Discourse analysis type stuff: out of how many of whatever type of media references, how many included Edwards.

6. I Don't Have Specific Stats, But I'm Sure Many Here Who Are So Very Very
good with that kind of stuff will be able to provide it. I'm just and instigator and NO PC geek! I just blog, but thought about this idea and wanted feed back!

I'm willing to spend time writing, but I admit I need help.

3. Edwards lived in Iowa for years--never stopped campaigning there.
Been to every town, spoke in every hall, shook every hand. They saw him up close and personal, and liked him--but decided to go with someone else. That's all there is to it. He gets less media attention overall, but that shouldn't have mattered in Iowa. Iowa was wall-to-wall Edwards since 2004.

4. It was so close between the top 3... I really think this is panning out
to be a 3 way race whether the media darlings want it or not... If they had it their way, they would have had Clinton/ Obama 1 and 2 and everyone else left back in the pack. Its nice that he spent time really getting to know the people he wishes to represent... means more than fancy Oprah rallies or Clinton antics anyday.

9. what is funny about that is that if it were truly a 2 person race, Obama would crush Hillary and
so would Edwards. Hillary is topped out at 30% imho

5. He Was Still Looked Upon As The One Going After The Big Guys...
and many Repukes crossed over to vote for Obama! Does that "say" anything to you? It does to me, and I'm talking about "going forward" and how exposure will be needed to the REST of the country! If we keep hearing Clinton & Obama... who gets the short end??

Obama has already started talking very very DLC, as far as I'm concerned... maybe even more than DLC! You see, I live in Florida and maybe it's hard for some to understand... many older people simply listen to what they are being fed. Then they have their card games, and "get-togethers" and this friends tells this one, and so it goes, etc.

They really believe they are well informed, but MSM has NOT done a good job as far as I'm concerned.

7. I don't think Obama thinks that it's over for Edwards.
I just got a call from the Obama camp asking for a contribution. I said I was still holding out for Edwards. They sound polite, but just a tad concerned.

11. As an Obama supporter I certainly am.

Edwards and Obama are each others spoilers. Either could beat Hillary hands down. But they are splitting the opposition between them.

Of course, neither has a "right" to all that opposition. So I guess we are just stuck duking it out.

While I would LOVE to see Obama and Edwards finish 1-2 every primary, I know that is so unlikely that I have to root for a quick demise to Edwards' campaign (nothing personal).

14. I on the other hand, hope the winner picks the other for his VP.
I think the two of them will compliment each other to create a great Administration that will take us out of the mess the Republicans created, and take us into the future by activating resources in this country, which have always been underutilized.

15. I don't see Edwards as a VP candidate.

It would look kinda weird him being VP two elections in a row. It would give the appearance of repeating a failed strategy sort of thing. And I doubt Edwards would care to play second fiddle two elections in a row. "Always the bridesmaid..."

I could see Edwards/Obama, however.

12. a good idea
I was watching CNN without the sound at the gym today and they had a commercial for their New Hampshire primary coverage, showing four candidates: I missed the first rebublican, then Huckabee, then Obama and Clinton! I was thinking, "helloooo, did anyone at CNN notice the returns last night?" It was a really short spot, maybe 10 seconds, and it is possible that they created it before the Iowa returns came in, but it is ridiculous how MSM has been playing this as a two way race for Democrats for so long.

13. I Was Just Putting It Out There... And Idea Is Only An Idea & If It Doesn't
seem viable, I take no offense. I just wanted to what I could to help Edwards. I did try to get a group together here in Florida, but things here are a bit mixed up and many are angry too. I'm afraid Florida is going to "stink" all over again.

Plus I feel left out not being able to interact personally with Edwards people. They have a group in St. Pete, but it's not the same. Plus, I'm not rich and gas is going higher and driving back and forth is a problem. The local Democratic Party is here, but that's NOT an Edwards group. Even though the Democrats here have been more aggressive than I've ever seen them, they work as a Democratic group and will be looking more to the GE than just a particular candidate.

17. I wish it wasn't true, but the media will continue to ignore him
until it gets to the inevitability that they HAVE to recognize him because of his obvious and strong support, and then they give him bad press. Our Mr. Edwards must continue to make his case without positive media support until he makes it clear that he is also the choice of the people. It is so frustrating to watch him speaking behind a closed door, as well as his name not being hardly mentioned by the media, while the other two get touted as basically the only two Democratic candidates running, which we know is not true. At present it is still completely up to him in the debate tomorrow to prove his case. Tomorrow, John Edwards has to give his all-time winning courtroom argument. I still have my hope that the media will soon be pointing their cameras at him very soon.
