Hillary getting ready to unload some dirt on Obama?
A particularly seamy hate radio tool was chirping today about how he has received confirmation from a "source" that the Novakula thing is legit and Hillary's people are considering how and when to unload some "drug-related" smear against Obama.

Take it with a grain of salt if you wish. Dismiss Novakula and this hate radio tool if you wish. I just thought I would throw it out there.

1. She'd better be careful.
I prefer Hillary to Obama, but I think any efforts on her part to eviscerate Obama or Edwards on that low level might backfire horribly.

9. Reminds me of a certain Texas race
When Ann Richards was running against then Texas Attorney General Jim Maddox for the governor's office. Maddox tried that, it didn't work, and after it didn't work, off he went into oblivion.

16. That's really interesting
I didn't know that. It would be interesting to know more about Ann Richards' races, because she handled criticism so incredibly well and was such a shining star. That is probably how Obama would handle it.

He was honest.

Anyone who thinks Hillary Clinton or John Edwards or anybody else doesn't have weak links is not in touch with reality. How would they like their secrets exposed?

37. A time well passed
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 09:47 PM by texastoast
When the big issue on the voters' minds was how well an elected official could do a job at a minimum of taxpayer money.

Remember those days? When we as the American people gave a shit about how the elected did the job and to hell with sitting in judgment on personal issues? When the concept of "it's not my business as long as he/she gets the job done that the taxpayers are being billed for"? Ah, Newt and Ken Starr, what an expensive legacy have you left us all.

Ann addressed Maddox with dignity, you are right. She (like any good Southerner whose mama enforced manners) refused to discuss it. Over and over and over and over. She called on the next reporter who had a relevant question that dealt with Texans' interests--not tabloid interests.

Something to be said for that.

31. Dirt raising is old politics...and it didn't work in Iowa
The fact that Hillary's campaign tried several dirt digging expeditions on Obama in the last weeks before Iowa and it may have backfired sure puts her in a quandry.

It is quite possible that Obama has tapped into something that is really different....attracting hordes of new voters who are turned on to a new style of politics. So this may be another reason why negative attacks towards obama may backfire: it just shows these voters all the more how their candidate is different.

If Obama continues to tap into these hordes of new voters, I don't thnk there is much Hillary can do to stop him. She can't go negative...that hasn't worked and may backfire again. And she can't very well compete with Obama on being an agent of change. She can try, but she will only be cutting her losses if she does. She lost in women 35-30. She lost in every single demographic except seniors.

I don't know what Hillary can actually do, except what she is doing. Presenting her experience and qualifications and hoping that in the future experience is more important than it was in IOWA. It is not impossible for hillary to come back from this. However, it is anyone's guess whether the old style negative politics can help her. I kinda doubt it.

32. Ladies and Gentlemen...we really have to avoid this sort of mindless...
confrontations with each other over the scurrilous words of Repugnant flacks.

In NH, Novak will get plastered again and will pick fights with bystanders. Then, again, he will surpass Paris Hilton in the media coverage.

This is the Repugnant Hate Machine going into high gear. They have done this before in two previous elections. Be aware of what it is, where it comes from, and the reasons for it.

Use yer 2x4s against the Pugs, not our candidates, and certainly not against each other.

For the 'kids' who want to start fights, find another site to have them.

33. There is enough from Obama himself to sink him....
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 07:12 PM by ClericJohnPreston
Except only one person can call him out on it and it isn't Hillary.

Edwards can ask Obama tomorrow how , with any shred of credibility, he could so earnestly opine to the audience in Iowa and nation-wide, that "lobbyists shouldn't hold power in politics", when he is the largest benefactor of corporate money in the race, next to Hillary.

You see, this is what a Trial lawyer does in summation to a jury. If you find that any part of anyone's testimony is incredulous, then you can discount ALL that that person has said.

To date, unless he disavows himself from Corporate money, OR explains it, I don't trust Obama.

34. Hell now you dumb asses are beleiving everything you hear on Fox.
but then, just think...you have to....it gets your macho up to hear trash talk about Hillary you blame her for everything while Obama pulls the wool over the eyes of the people who supported him....taking money from the health industry, panning labor, labor and the unions who made this country. Making fun of Ted Kennedy who if is wasn't for Ted Kennedy Obama would be able to make a run for the white house. See how unspeakable his actions are. Saying Al Gore and John Kerry divided this country when he has done more in the last couple of months to do more than bush has to divide this country. Talk about spewing out of both sides of your mouth, he's a good one for that. When he starts making fun of Kennedy, Gore and Kerry and his supporters STILL SUPPORT HIM, they are as bad as he is. He is the one who better be careful all this shit is gonna back fire on him.

the stuff about drugs has already hurt the democratic race in NH. If she actually thinks it will be good for her to go back to drug attacks this is a sign of desperation, the likes never before seen.

38. If there is dirt on Obama, better for the party to have it come out now...
whether it damages Obama or Clinton (if she is the source***which I doubt***). If it's a drug related story about Obama why not let it get out now before it's too late (for the Democratic Party). I don't want any story like that coming out after it's too late when it would be released by Novak during the GE. Does anyone think Novak would hold anything back if it could hurt a Democrat?
