Sweet: Fox's Bill O'Reilly in confrontation with Obama staffer at rally. Developing.

NASHUA, N.H.--Bombastic Fox News host Bill O'Reilly got into a confrontation with an Obama aide after O'Reilly started screaming at him as he tried to get Barack Obama's attention following a rally here.

The incident was triggered when O'Reilly--with a Fox News crew shooting--was screaming at Obama National Trip Director Marvin Nicholson to move so he could get Obama's attention, according to an eyewitness. "O'Reilly was yelling at him, yelling at his face," the witness said, who added, "Obama came by, then came back and talked to him.

O'Reilly grabbed Nicholson's arm, said "move" and shoved him, another eyewitness said.

A Secret Service agent--at least one--came after O'Reilly pushed Nicholson and the agent told him to back off.

Obama had his back turned at this point and did not see any of this. O'Reilly yelled "sir" at Obama and Obama walked over, not aware of what happened and told him he had an overflow crowd to visit. According to the time code from a photographer shooting the two, Obama and O'Reilly talked about 12 seconds near 11:45 a.m. eastern time.

The situation took place near a basketball hoop in the gym at Nashua North High School where Obama just addressed a jammed rally.

16. Marvin Nicholson is one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet
He use to work for Kerry and I met him at a Kerry event. He's a sweetheart.

So, it would be pretty funny (or sad?) if anyone would call him a "thug".

Person of the Week: Marvin Nicholson
Candidates and Presidents All Rely on a Right-Hand Man

Oct. 29, 2004 —

Marvin Nicholson has been indispensable to Sen. John Kerry, serving as the candidate's personal aide, or "body man" as the campaign calls him, since he decided to run for president in 2002.

"My business card reads: 'Marvin Nicholson, Chief of Stuff,' " he said. "I make sure he's got everything from his briefing books to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches."

The two met while Nicholson was working at a Massachusetts windsurfing gear shop. Over time, he became Kerry's golf caddie, then his driver and later his personal aide. Nicholson, 32, may be the only man on the campaign taller than the candidate.

He always has to be one step ahead of Kerry, ready with a pen when it's autograph time.

"My arsenal of pens," Nicholson said, showing his fully stocked inside pocket jacket. "I like to be prepared for every possible signature scenario. Our mainstay would have to be the Sharpie."

Marvin Nicholson in Manchester, NH with Kerry on Nov.2, 2004..there was such a big crowd(15,000 or more) that I couldn't see Kerry but I could see Marvin from my vantage or disadvantage point. :)

I read it was Marvin and all sorts of scenarios went through my mind, including pure glee that he got to see the Secret Service threaten Billo. A teeny slice of poetic justice there.

Marvin isn't exactly a little guy so I wouldn't think he felt the least bit threatened by O'Really. He was probably amused as hell about the incident.

58. Here is some more info:
OBAMA AIDE: O'REILLY SHOVED ME

From NBC's Mark Hudspeth
NASHUA, N.H. -- An aide to Barack Obama said talk-show host Bill O'Reilly shoved him several times at the rope line after a campaign event today.

Marvin Nicholson, Obama's trip director, said the commentator from Fox News Channel pushed him and called him "low class" after Nicholson refused to get out of the way of his cameraman's shot.

"I've worked two campaigns, and I've never had a member of the press lay hands on a staff member before," Nicholson said.

The unusual incident occurred at the end of a rally in which more than 1,500 people jammed a high school gymnasium to see the first-term senator fresh off his victory at the Iowa Caucus.

More than 1,000 people were forced to listen to the speech in a smaller gymnasium next door after the fire marshal closed the room. The campaign said they were not expecting anything like the crowd today.

"There must be a hockey game going on here," Obama said. "We needed a bigger boat."

The crowds at Obama's campaign appearances have swelled steadily since he arrived in New Hampshire early Wednesday, but today's was the most visible demonstration yet of the newfound celebrity status of the Democratic frontrunner.

Obama got cheers from his standard stump lines about ending America's dependence on foreign oil and bringing troops home from Iraq, but some of the loudest came after appeals to the historic nature of his candidacy.

"There is a moment in the life of every generation if we are to make our mark on history, where we cast aside the doubts and we cast aside the fear, and we cast aside the cynicism, and we stand up for what we genuinely believe in," Obama said.

"This is our moment."

Dotted throughout the crowd was a smattering of very young children, some hoisted on their parents shoulders to see the stage above the crowd. Andrea and John Koschwancz brought their two small children all the way from Boston to see Obama speak.

"We wanted him to be able to remember it," John said of his two-year old son Hugh. "If he becomes President, he'll be able to say he was there."

Snarled traffic outside the school delayed the campaign motorcade for almost an hour. While they were forced to wait, Obama played basketball with staff and volunteers from Nashua, according to the campaign.

O'REILLY (audio clip): Orlando, Florida. Mike, go.

CALLER: Hey, Bill, I appreciate your taking my call.

O'REILLY: Sure.

CALLER: I like to listen to you during the day. I think Keith Olbermann's show --

O'REILLY: There you go, Mike is -- he's a gone guy. You know, we have his -- we have your phone numbers, by the way, so if you're listening, Mike, we have your phone number. And we're going to turn it over to Fox security, and you'll be getting a little visit.

E.D. HILL (co-host): Maybe Mike is from the mothership.

O'REILLY: No, maybe Mike's going to get in big trouble, because we're not gonna play around. When you call us, ladies and gentlemen, just so you know, we do have your phone number. And if you say anything untoward, obscene, or anything like that, Fox security then will contact your local authorities, and you will be held accountable. Fair?

HILL: That's fair.

O'REILLY: So just -- all you guys who do this kind of a thing, you know, I know some shock jocks, whatever -- you will be held accountable. Believe it. We'll be right back.

It was pretty funny, actually, with everyone else rushing toward Obama, and me waving frantically to get Marvin's attention over the crowd. I don't know if the big smile was for me or for the 'JK for Senate' pin I was wearing, but I choose to think it was a little of both. :-)

O'Reilly is such a slimebucket.

61. I met him at Pepperdine...
...when Kerry spoke there (thanks, KG :) ). He is tall. He was also SO nice...to me, a *nobody*.

Sounds like O'Reilly was his typical, rude self.

Thanks for posting. Yeah, Marvin's a sweetie. :loveya:

O'Reilly does not come off well in comparison. On any measure.

O’Reilly Involved in Shoving Match at Obama Event
By Jeff Zeleny

NASHUA, N.H. – After a rally for Senator Barack Obama here today, a brief tussle ensued between Fox News host Bill O’Reilly and a campaign aide for Mr. Obama, which created enough of a stir for the Secret Service to get involved.
Mr. O’Reilly, who had attended a campaign event earlier for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, sought to get Mr. Obama’s attention along a rope line. With cameras rolling, Mr. O’Reilly was trying to shout a question to Mr. Obama. But according to a photographer who witnessed the scene, Mr. O’Reilly grew agitated when he couldn’t get close to the senator.
“Move,” he shouted to Marvin Nicholson, the national trip director for the Obama campaign, according to witnesses.
Photographs of the incident show that Secret Service agents intervened after Mr. O’Reilly pushed Mr. Nicholson.

The Obama campaign, which like most of its rivals, is typically a fairly buttoned-up operation when it comes to aides speaking to reporters. But the campaign seemed eager to discuss this incident, sending Mr. Nicholson to the press area of the gymnasium here.
Soon, he was surrounded by cameras and reporters.

Mr. Nicholson, who served as Senator John Kerry’s body man four years ago and previously worked as a bartender and golf caddy, smiled as he answered questions from reporters, including one from the Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun Times. She asked him how tall he was.
“6-foot-8,” Mr. Nicholson replied.

54. I Wonder If O'Reilly Will Go To An Edwards Rally? This Is Just More Spin to Distract
O'Reilly and THE RIGHT Want either Obama or Hillary to Face off against. Edwards as the nominee blows ALL republican comers out of the water... Hill and Obey both are 90+% losers!

"Big Head DC is trying to claim Marvin Nicholson is blowing the incident out of proportion and that “at no point was Secret Service involved.” Bull shit. There’s photo’s showing the Secret Service stepping in and showing O’Reilly clearly reiled up. FYI, Big Head DC, the tall guy with his back to the camera wearing a black shirt is Marvin Nicholson."

I can't, for the life of me, figure out why FOX employes a guy who was engaging in unwanted phone sex

...O'Reilly, interviewed afterward by phone on Fox News, said he tried "to gently remove" Nicholson because he was standing in front of Fox's camera.

"We're sorry we had to have that little confrontation, but no one on this earth is going to block a shot on "The O'Reilly Factor." It is not going to happen," O'Reilly said.

The scene was hard to miss. O'Reilly is about 6-feet-5-inches tall. Nicholson is 6-feet-8-inches tall.

"I told him, 'Sir, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't shove me anymore.' He called me 'low class.' He was pretty upset," Nicholson said.....
