As an Obama supporter...I must say to Edwards....
Good job tonight. Agents of change MUST stay together. I really admire Edwards for showing real courage. He came to the defense of Obama and that shows strong integrity.

18. Indeed, that could be considered far too "human" -
kind of like smoking crack in our college days.

5. Integrity, yes. But also a wise political move.
See what he does tomorrow morning. He will continue to shine, but you won't see much defense of Obama or his positions.

7. Strategically, A Poor Move
it would help Edwards if Clinton wins in NH, not Obama.

Clinton's ineveitability is already in doubt based on her performance in Iowa. Obama is going into New Hampshire with the momentum, with the bounce. IF he wins New Hampshire, he's the clear front runner and presumed nominee going into SC and NV and then Super Tuesday.

If Clinton wins NH, the race is open again. The media still wants to play it as a two person race, but at least there's no clear front runner leaving a small chance for Edwards.

I know a lot of people think Edwards is a phony because his campaign message now is not in alignment with his voting record as Senator, but I think this shows Edwards really does want change or a break from the corporate controlled Washington and he knows Obama is a lot more likely to do this than Clinton.

I think in time Edwards will turn on Obama again, especially if Edwards keeps finishing behind Obama. People will be inclined to mock Edwards and his campaign as in trouble and desperate (as they already have). Desperate may be right, but not in the sense people think. It will not be desperation to win because Johnny wants to be President. It will be a sense of urgency to get his message out and to be heard while he still has a chance. It will also be a challenge to Obama (or Clinton if she moves into the lead for the nomination) to pick up the torch of fighting for the little guy/gal.

10. Go Edwards
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 12:08 AM by ClericJohnPreston
I like Obama as a candidate. I am fanatical about Edwards as a candidate.

I want a fighter who will not make nice to the enemy, but wants to crush them and dis-empower them.

We need Edwards.

I'll go with an Edwards/Obama ticket any day.

12. I agree
"I think in time Edwards will turn on Obama again, especially if Edwards keeps finishing behind Obama."

and that's politics. Whether it will only be politics (business, never personal) we'll see.

14. The only way Clinton winning helps Edwards is if Edwards again finishes second...
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 12:31 AM by calipendence
If he finishes third behind Clinton in first and Obama in second, it will push him down, especially with the mainstream media working against him now. If he finishes second to Obama instead, then perhaps they can make it a two person race. The way they've been more "respectful" of each other lately would pave the way for them both being on the ticket in the end too, who's heading it of course would depend on who won the nomination.

With Obama's finish in Iowa and his current polling in NH, I don't think it's too likely he'll finish in third in NH.

8. I like Obama, but I thought Edwards made him look weaker.
They looked like they were ganging up, unable to stand up on their own.

I also think the "agents of change" thing has become cliche now.

11. I think many did not pick-up on Richardsons part...
Anyone else notice and feel that when Richardson was saying no other candidate has my experience....In effect he is marginalizing Clinton's claim to "experiance" while Obama and Edwards are keeping her from claiming "change".

I'm an Obama supporter too, but Edwards was at his best tonight.

It's a good day to be a Democrat.

But I liked what he had to say tonight, absolutely.

16. Edwards is our best hope for an 8 year term.
Everybody else is just a sacrificial "Carter" term. There is just too much mess to clean up.

20. I'm sure somebody's voiced this idea before but
...then again, maybe not, because this is the first time I've really been paying attention to the amount of vitriol between some of the Obama and Edwards supporters...

Anyway, can you imagine the exploding heads on DU if Obama and Edwards end up sharing the same ticket?

That's why people ought to be watching what they say against our Democratic candidates during the primaries. The crow some of them are going to have to be swallowing is going be big enough to CHOKE them.
