Lawrence Eagle-Tribune endorses Obama
The paper is located jsut across the border in Mass, but has a huge circulation in vote-rich and heavily independent Rockingham County.

The best choice for Granite State Democrats is Obama, the senator from Illinois.

The chief criticism of Obama is his lack of experience; he was elected to the Senate in 2004. But Obama more than makes up for that shortcoming with his potential. Obama is a natural leader, a man who exudes charisma and hope.

Obama is an honest liberal who makes no apologies for his political philosophy. Obama is no poseur. One cannot help but note the contrast with Clinton, who once stood to the left of her husband but now casts herself as a moderate. Likewise, Edwards is not all he appears to be. One of the richest trial lawyers in the country now casts himself as a populist.

Those who seek change in this presidential election will find it in Obama. He would lead the nation in a sharply different direction in foreign policy and on domestic matters.

5. Correction: he's not "populist"
He's a liberal in the same manner as JFK, Gary Hart, Paul Tsongas, and Bill Bradley (all of whom did pretty well up here, by the way). He combines a sense of tolerance on social issues with a mature and informed approach to economic policy.

The definition of the term "liberal" will never be set by a small group of angry hard liners.

7. A suprise, since that paper usually leans to the right
I used to live in their circulation area, and they endorsed * in both 2000 and 2004. Who are they backing on the GOP side? My bet is McCain.
