Analysis: Clinton fights back in NH

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Hillary Rodham Clinton lost the luxury of being polite along with the Iowa caucuses. On the ropes after a third-place finish, Clinton is coming out swinging against new Democratic front-runner Barack Obama with a vigor she hasn't shown before in the contest she used to lead. She says she is the candidate who deserves the mantle of change, not this newcomer Obama.

Sunday morning, with the New Hampshire primary in sight, she told supporters here, "There's a big difference between talking and acting, between promising and performing. Over the next three days, I'm going to be making that case."

She had made the same case just feet from Obama in a debate the night before, raising her voice and jabbing her finger as she said, "I'm not just running on a promise of change. I'm running on 35 years of change."

During the debate, Clinton's criticism got Obama and John Edwards ganging up on her. Edwards apparently decided if he can't beat Obama in New Hampshire, he'll try to join him.

1. Sounding like a crazy lady isn't going to help anyone win...
too little too late from here. She lost her cool, which is one of the final signs of desperation, because she knows that there is nothing she can do anymore.

13. Now hrc is a crazy lady for being disgusted with what edwards
said. Oh help me L-rd.

Now if that were obama that spoke in that tone you obama faithful would be telling us how grand it was he stood up for hisself and how well he defended his positions. But I guess its the old double standard. Never quite understood how many of you obama folks can be pro civil rights when it comes to obama but be anti civil rights when it comes to hrc.

17. I know that it is easy to type something angry, ugly, and then hit
the send button without really thinking things through, but you may want to consider that you are really looking bad and your credibility is ZERO because of your ugly posts, obvious agenda and bias. People are just rolling eyes at this point with your thread spam.

My grandma used to say, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

18. Thank you
I will think about it.
I must say, I am not concerned about what you think about my credibility or anyone elses. I find it interesting that that is your main argument when someone doesn't attach themselves to your candidates meltdowns.
But thank you for your concerns.

8. It will be a couple of days before the debate posts any changes in polls....
Did I say a couple of days? That's Tuesday - primary day in NH. Well, I repeat: it will be a couple of days.

And I say that Hillary was resilient and effective in warding off the Obama-Edwards tandem. We will see what the NHites think.

12. C-SPAN is re-running Big Dog's talk about HRC's specific experience and qualifications.
Among the things he mentioned, Hillary got 60% of the vote last time in the 40 NY counties that previously had voted for Republicans.

IOW, she won conservative republicans over with her competence and concern.

He also told about a NYC fire captain, former republican, who said he supported HRC because she was the first to be concerned about potential lung damage to Ground Zero workers.

And that she sponsored the legislation that corrected the recent scandal about the Army asking for refunds of enlistment bonuses from too-wounded-to-serve soldiers -- something that even wingnuts should give her credit for.

He listed a lot of things. Nobody like Big Dog to sell you something.

If Hillary would tick off on her fingers the things she has actually DONE in public service (like Bill was doing for her), there would be no more doubt about the value of her experience.

16. I saw C-span this morning--a caller from Illinois was so angry
that Obama is winning. She said he did nothing in his home state and all he does is talk with no action.
