Could Obama wins mean a GORE Presidency?
I am, admittedly a John Edwards partisan. I believe he is the only REAL substance over Obama form, as I've already posted. You can't be an agent for change , while deftly competing for the hearts and minds of people , while USING the scanadalous LOBBY system to enhance your coffers.

That is where the tires leave the road.

I believe that over time, Edwards coffers will swell from the influx of the "smart money". Katrina Vanden Heuvel and Michael Moore reflect that group.

But, what if Edwards torrid campaigning further weakens Hillary, who is BUSHCO BLUE, more cozy to the Rethuglican base than Progressive Democrats? What if that creates a gridlock, with no clear winner going into the National Convention?

I believe that is the time and place you would see a DRAFT GORE Presidency bid take place and I wouldn't expect Al to back away from that.

I'd settle for a Gore/Edwards ticket that leaves the door open for an Edwards ascension after 8 years of Al Gore. :)

That reads like white-supremist crap I used to see at the home of an acquaintance in Pasadena, TX.

Almost ALL Americans are from somewhere else, within just a few generations. You just insulted all of us, not to mention you have re-enforced the attitude of the Ugly American. Shame.

Bigotry is not welcome. I'm not even an Obama supporter but find this nation's support of a black man awfully refreshing after such a shameful history. People like you created that shameful history and need to GO AWAY!!! We're not having this.

SO THERE IS NO CONFUSION TO FUTURE READERS WHO MISSED THE DELETION, SOME MANIACAL FREEPER MADE THE FIRST POST AFTER MY OP WHICH WAS FRINGE LUNATIC. THE RESPONSES YOU SEE ARE DIRECTED, RIGHTFULLY, AT THAT HOPEFULLY BANNED IDIOT!

As to the Obamaites, open your eyes about your Big Pharma funded candidate please.

Marcos at Kos, Vanden Heuvel and Michael Moore, some fairly intelligent people to name a few, have already implied their support for Edwards.

Your fandom for Obama based on stylistic linguistics, is as absurd as the Ohioans , out of work, who voted against their interests for George Bushco.

Over time, all this will play out.

Also, most of you demonstrate your political naivete, if you believe a Draft Gore isn't possible in the scenario I painted.

27. You better open your eyes, your condescension is to your own discredit. I'm not a "fan" of Obama
but I'm familiar with his policy proposals AND his history.

As for the absurd notion of a draft Gore movement, it leads me to wonder what your agenda on this forum is, it's so outlandish.

4. So...you're hoping that Edwards will stay in not to win, but to muck things
up enough that somehow Gore will magically step in on convention day, and Obama and Hillary will just magically give up their hard-earned delegates to someone who hasn't even run a campaign? Have we reached new heights of delusional thinking here, or what? You win the cuckoo-for-cocoa-puffs prize for today.

Doesn't matter. He took matching funds; his spending is capped.

(I would say you can't be an agent for change while working for hedge funds that back subprime lending)

10. If Obama wins IA, NH, SC I think he will be the nominee
he will have the momentum. There will be no draft of Gore. Gore is not going to run. There will be no Gore/Edwards or even Gore/Obama (which would be more likely) ticket.

18. He's as much an American as you are
...but probably a lot better one, given the tripe you posted.

You may be the only pure blood American in the U.S. I was born and raised in Texas, a product of English, Irish, Black Dutch, American Indian (Choctaw and Chickasaw) and lord knows what else, and I don't believe I am any more American than anyone else.

I am not an Obama supporter, but I think the guy would make a great president! He has been a very good senator for the state of Illinois, and a great democrat for the party.

20. Back to my OP, before being interrupted
I think there is much naivete about the political process if no one can see the potential for an Al Gore getting involved. I know that shakes the firmament for Obamaites, because they in Gore, get an Edwards who is committed in both word and deed to their soaring speech.

Hillary, or Bushco-lite as I call her, is not going quietly and she will pick up , unfortunately, her share of wins. Punditry and Obama fanned lobbyist publicity have you believing in Obama inevitability.

It is as much a mirage as Hillary invincibility.

23. There's about a 1% chance of that happening
Obama will be unstoppable after New Hampshire because of the condensed primary calendar. That 1% is the possibility of a major Obama scandal or gaffe.

24. There is only one way Gore will be re-elected President in 2008
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 06:26 PM by Kucinich4America
Assuming this primary race goes all the way to Denver, which is very possible, if Iowa was an indicator of the split in the vote.

Now you're in Denver. Roughly 1/3 of the delegates in each of the Obama, Edwards, and Clinton camps.

The Hillbots will never concede to either of the other two. Camp Obama will not concede to Hillary, after the bloody (and at times even racist) campaign tactics. (see reply #1. Ooops - zapped already) Obama & Edwards camps might be likely to work together, but it's not enough to overcome the missing 1/3.

Enter Al Gore as the candidate the majority of delegates from all three camps will accept.

It's entirely possible, and frankly would be my preferred outcome. Not just because I prefer Gore over the others. But because it would prove how COMPLETELY FUCKING USELESS these two year, billion dollar primaries are, once and for all.
