Jeebus -- This stage of things has split me in two between Edwards and Obama
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 08:36 PM by Armstead
Okay, I'll state it up front. I'm an ABH (Anyone But Hillary) guy.

I don't "hate" Hillary. I kind of like her, and wish she'd dedicate herself to becoming a really good Senator from New York.

But I strongly disagree with Clintonism, and the DLC "centrist" crowd she represents.

After deciding that the guy closest to my views -- Dennis the K -- was going nowhere, and was failing to even get the progressive message into the mainstream effectively, I decided to go with Edwards.

After doing that, I became more and more convinced that it was the right choice. I think he's got the message, the moxie and the passion to advance what I believe in, whether he ultimately gets the nomination or not.

I've been lukewarm about Obama. I like him well enough, but I've doubted that his conciliatory approach and mild form of sort-of-liberalism will really change things.

So I'm an Edwards guy through and through. Last night's debate really got me fired up for him.

But this Obama momentum has a part of me rooting for him too. This is my ABH side coming out. Between Edwards and Obama it's looking more and more like Obama is in the best position to stop the Clinton Centrist Machine.

So I'm trying to convince myself I could get enthusiastic about Obama.

And when I see the polls, I think "Crud...Edwards is down. But at least Obama's up and may take it in New Hampshire too. THat would put a crimp in the Clinton Dynasty's plans. So Go-Bama-Go."

I remain an Edwards supporter. I am rooting for him to pull an upset.

But there's also that part of me that's rooting for Obama....Maybe half a loaf is better than none.

1. That's why an Edwards/Obama ticket would be ideal!
That would be a hard ticket to beat wouldn't it?

3. Edwards
But my heart has told me Dean and Kucinich in the past....(and in 1976 Fred Harris.)

So it's not a very trustworthy little organ. :)

5. That's what I'm doing
But my head is still doing hippity hops.

Oh well, I guess ultimately the coice will be made for me by forces larger than any of us individually.

Go Fred Harris Go!

6. I've always been torn between the two of them.
But I've decided Edwards is the fighter that we need.

Too bad I'm in Michigan and will have to vote "uncommitted" in my primary. Grrrr!

But I have a feeling it'll be Obama in the end anyway. I'll feel sad because I've been in Edwards' corner since 2003. But I'll be thrilled for Obama at the same time.

7. Don't worry

This is the type of decision that you don't have to be held to permanantly, either, so if there's a change of heart, just go with it. Sometimes the heart just talks to you and lets you know.

Whenever I've come to a serious crossroads where I have to make a really tough choice, like years ago when I had to decide if I was going to stick with my job or start my own business, I agonized for days over which choice I should make. My head was telling me one thing, and my heart was telling me another. Then a friend of mine told me to just listen to my heart, even if it didn't seem like it was the most practical decision at the time. I took the advice and never regretted it.
