How long are the Clinton's married, 35 or 40 years and Obamistas are saying they're like Rudy and his ninth wife?

1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect the similarity
isn't the sentiment, it's the "let me take this mobile phone call while I'm in front of a bunch of press / supporters" angle.

3. A politician with Clinton's experience (either of 'em)--
--wouldn't just "forget" to turn his phone off before a press conference...

5. Exactly.
Rather shocking that anyone would think that wasn't the case and somehow manage to think it was a 'genuine' moment.

22. Which only continues to hurt her
I don't get why her people are being so damned stupid.

The lack of sincerity, the nasty (and often untrue) insinuations thrown around by staffers and other campaign people -- all of it just underlines the things that give her high negatives. It confirms everything they don't want people thinking about H. Clinton.

6. of course it was an engineered bit
so what?

and frankly --Hillary is the one running --and since she can't be everywhere at once, it was a cute way for her to say "hello" to the people assembled.

In Rudy's case --there was no reason for such a phone call other than Rudy showing off that he's got a new wife.

7. People don't generally like political theater presented as real events...
...it makes them feel like they're being played for suckers.

8. and your observation
is no doubt based upon being in the room that this happened?

no?

Is it on your expertly formed study of people's psychological reactions to cute crowd pleasing events?

14. Every politician is an opportunist and a phony. An intelligent voter starts with that premise.
So if you don't think you're being played for a sucker no matter who you support then...

20. Well, sure, but on one hand there's simply "looking good for the camera"
...and then there's crossing the WGA picket line.

"Ok, Places, people! Curtain up! Bill, your cue will be the phone ringing at 11 AM--feel free to improvise a little!"

15. I don't disagree they're both phony ploys, but I thinkthey are different.
One was ridiculous and even offensive and one is just corny.

9. All the candidates parade their spouses and children.
I had a friend visiting from Europe years ago during a presidential election, and she was disgusted by the campaign material both sides were handing out. They contained little substance, but glossy pictures of wives and children.

"These brochures look more like advertisements for a stud farm," she snorted, "than legitimate campaign material."

16. Huckabee met his first and only wife and the mother of his two children
Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 02:56 PM by Benhurst
in junior high school and married her in 1974. I'm hardly a fan of the governor; but I think it's a bit unfair to refer to Mrs. Huckabee as a "trophy wife."

As for Chuck Norris, now there's fair game if I ever saw it.

every stage with Huckabee.

She's Norris's wife, right?
