I Listened To Obama Speak. Am I Listening To A Guy Running For Class President??!
I gave him another shot with his recent speeches, seeing if something dramatic changed overnight. I seriously do not get what people are getting from this guy. His speeches sound like they're written by a 12-year-old running for class president. They're piss-poor. It confirmed again what I already knew, it's the cult of personality.

2. You never liked him to start with.
Sorry, but he is the greatest orator of our time. You just can not see it. That
says more about you than it says about Obama.

You're using hyperbole to make a point. You do not seriously mean that!

To me, he sounds like a televangelist.

in comparison.

Sen. Ted Kennedy has more Democratic passion in one pinky than Obama exudes.

There needs to be some substance behind the speeches.

32. The best leaders are the ones who inspire.
Let's see FDR, JFK, Raygun. These guys knew how to energize the citizens of this country.
A leader only gets things done, when she/he has the people behind him/her.

39. I believe that his policy statements were with some controversy
posted here last night. Also you could check http://www.barackobama.com/index.php.
I think as good democrats and good citizens, it is our job to search out the positions of each
candidate and then make our decision.

If you are criticizing Obama, and you do not know where he is on the issues, just willing to say
that he has no policies, that says more about you than it does about him.

40. I'm most concerned about his statements that he'll
reach across the aisle to Repugs. If I want Dems to talk to Repugs, I want it preceded by a few warrants and/or subpoenas. I don't negotiate with terrorists either.

I'm not going to sit around singing kumbayah. That much I do know.

43. This is not his plan to give away the store the way the congress does.
He wants to gather the support of the American people behind him. This is leverage that he will bring to
the table with the Repugs and the corps. You know kinda like FDR did.

Really appeals to the independents who are turned off by partisanship and the moderate Rs who MUST vote for us if we are to win.

11. Me too. And yet I guess I'm supporting him now.
I'm still stewing on why. John Edwards had the same kind of charisma in 2004 and I didn't quite "get" his appeal either. Still don't, tho I do love watching his evolution toward a more progressive brand of politics. Maybe I'm a substance whore. I grooved on Clark then and Biden this time around. I really suck at picking winners.
