Calling all women!
Don't let us down! How many times have we heard...if only we had a female president? Well now's our chance! There isn't another woman on the horizon for years. No one even in the pipe line! Damn, I want a woman to win!

40. I agree 100%
I would love to see a woman president, and I think that it will eventually happen. But voting for someone just because she is a woman is no better than NOT voting for someone just because she is a woman, in my opinion.

If Hillary wins the nomination I will vote for her. But I have been troubled by the way her stance on the war has changed based on popular opinion. I want someone in the White House who is committed to getting us out and not allowing this to happen again.

she's a smart lady, a good lady. why did she become chair of the childrens defense fund if she is cold and doesn't care. why would she have done pro-bono work for them. why did the RW criticize her for her work on children's rights. she didn't do that for power, she stuck up for people who couldn't always stick up for themselves.

Just having a woman make POTUS isn't a thrill if it's the WRONG woman.

Hillary is my 4th choice, and yes, I donated money for her. Obama is my 3rd. Biden was 1 and Edwards is 2.

I don't like Nafta, I don't like how cozy they are with the Bushies, and she sits the fence way to much for me. BUT if she gets the Dem nomination, she gets my vote.

And, in 2004, you were saying the same thing about the female
candidate then, too, right? Supported her above all else because she was a woman? And especially since, if Hillary Clinton doesn't get the nomination, all of us women will just die.

Sorry, but the policies and morals of the nominee matter more than their race or gender. I'll vote for any nominee happily in November, but I'll be damned if I'll support a candidate in the Primary because of something like that.

I mean, get with the program, wouldn't you like to see an African American President? First ever?

That was my point. Nobody voted for her "because she was a woman" or "because she was black". I, personally, loved what she had to say, but she didn't get very much support and failed to really get her message out. That's fine. I can respect that.

But most people on this thread don't even know who I'm talking about. I'm glad that you did.

52. We women need to disprove that old perception that we can't think for ourselves.
I'm a woman, I *can* think for myself, and I think Hillary would be a disaster as President. She's striven to show she's as tough as the "next guy" by voting for and continuing to enable the war/occupation in Iraq.

I supported her when she was going through the Great Right-Wing Conspiracy attacks on herself and Bill. But now she's kow-towing to those same elements, and I don't care what her gender is, my future and that of my children and grandchildren are under threat because Hillary went along to get along. She's done some good, no doubt, with some of her legislation. But current issues are too important to let sentiment get in the way.

over and over that she can out-gun any man. I want my woman candidate to prize nurturance and wisdom over toughness! I want her to be a champion of peace, not eager to be 'commander in chief.' I want my woman candidate to have the resolve to face down the insurance companies and get them out of the health care business. ETC. ETC.
