It's all about the independents. McCain and Obama are essentially splitting them.
So, if McCain pulled a large percentage of independents, the race between Hillary and Obama could be much closer than the polls thought it would be.

10. Good point.
I hadn't really thought of it that way. Granted, this is just New Hampshire, but it'll be interesting to see what the final (I) numbers look like.

6. That would seem to be the case. Marist showed Obama up 36-28, but Hillary led with Dems 36-30.
If we assume for a moment that the Marist poll is accurate, tonight's result would certainly depend on the percentages of (D) vs. (I).

8. Good since we are electing a Democratic nominee
It is ironic, isn't it, that the man with such a purported ability to inspire needs independents and Republicans to win Democratic primaries.

5. CNN

They said Obamas votes came from 50% independents where as Hilary took almost 40% in her vote make up.

However Hilary aparently has almost 60% of democrats in her vote make up and Obama only 44.

Its way close.

9. But doesn't that mean that Obama is a good GE candidate
because he attract something other than Democrats? Democrats will vote for any Dem Nominee, Independents, not so much.

12. It would also seem to indicate that McCain would probably be a formidable opponent in the GE.
