Did racism play a role for Obama?
This was brought up around Iowa, and I haven't heard it brought up yet.

The polls were all flat out wrong. Everyone, EVERYONE expected Obama to win and win big in NH. It wasn't even supposed to be close. MSNBC just called it for Hillary.

In Iowa there is a caucus system. You have to actually publicly stand with the candidate you are voting for - there is no secret ballot. In the past African American candidates have struggled with people lying at the polls about voting black. Could people have been telling pollsters that they'll vote for Obama then as they got behind the curtain to cast their ballot... realized that they couldn't go black after all?

16. And yet it's there. It's always been there.
If we can deal with the positives of Iowa, with white America patting itself on the back and black America peeking out from under the covers of centuries long Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, we can deal with what happened in New Hampshire.

But will we?

9. Furthermore women tell pollsters they will vote for the male candidate
and when safely behind the curtain vote for the woman candidate.

18. Why use 'women'? why not 'white'?
Are 'women' going to be blamed for being liars, now?

Why assume women will vote for a woman just because she is a woman?

Or can we also assume whites will vote for a white just because they are white; as people are so quick to assume non-whites (not just blacks, see the silly assumptions about Latinos and Asians regarding Obama) will vote for non-whites just because they are non-whites?

Whatever happened in New Hampshire happened. It will be nice to read a post-New Hampshire analysis, as well as track what the new meme will be and what will happen with the old ('colorblind America').

Keep your head up. :)

7. My gut says no...
Nh'ers tend to distrust media darlings, they can be a contrary lot. McGovern, Mcain, Tsongas, Roberstson...

I think this is the first sign of blowback

10. Those schmucks all voted in the Repub primary.
Hillary's team did a great job of playing down expectations, and campaigning hard.

13. The polls were right for McCain
Weird that they were right about the white vs. white Republican battle but wrong about a black candidate going against a white candidate.
