He’s Staying in Campaign, Edwards Tells Supporters
MANCHESTER, N.H. — Reminding voters that less than one week ago he took second in the Iowa caucuses, John Edwards said Tuesday night that he would continue his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, despite his distant third-place showing in the New Hampshire primary.

Speaking to supporters gathered in an old textile mill here, Mr. Edwards repeated his determination to stay in the race.

“Last week I congratulated Senator Obama when he finished first and I finished second in Iowa — one race down,” Mr. Edwards said. “Tonight, I congratulate Senator Clinton and Senator Obama. Two races down; 48 states left to go.”

Elizabeth Edwards, introducing her husband, sounded disappointed but tried to project an upbeat tone. “This day, we have taken steps,” Mrs. Edwards said. “Not as big of steps as we wanted.”

6. IMHO, it looks like he's about himself and not the people.
He's the type that will run again and again and again.

5. No it won't be embarrassing at all. To the contrary...
Edwards will continue to drive the dialogue and to speak out for those with no voice. It's our job to make sure his message is heard.

9. I bet you would have said that about Truman in 1948
Then again a lot of people thought his campaign for re-election was. What was the headline again, "Dewey beats Truman" or something like that.

Oh wait, it wasn't Dewey in the Oval Office in 1952 now was it?

11. He will stay in until after March 4
He will wait to see what Ohio says, where he is out polling everyone, including the Repubs among likely voters.

AND, Ohio has a new SOS...a DEM who recently declared the Diebold machines a damn security risk and everyone has to go back to paper ballots.

8. I don't want to vote for the 'corporate candidates'!
As long as Edwards is in there, I feel my vote will make that statement. The others are not addressing the corruption and illegalities that goes on, just plenty of generalities and the usual bullshit. Many on here know that, but are caught up in believing this is the way to 'win'. I'll probably have to hold my nose in Nov, with a 'lesser of two evils' vote, but I have done that many times over the years. In the meantime, I'll endorse the guy that carries the message I believe in. John Edwards!

10. Edwards is right to stay in this through the Convention
Democratic voters need a real choice of candidates. If Edwards would shut down his campaign, then the only viable candidates are Hillary and Obama - both of whom talk about reaching across the aisle and working with Republicans. The progressive wing of the party would then be shut out of the primary process.

Right now it is way too early to say what will happen in the remaining 48 States that have yet to elect their delegates to the Democratic National Convention. But it is not out of the question that we might end up with a deadlocked Convention, where Edwards delegates would play a decisive role.
