Poll question: If Edwards was not in the race last night, would Obama have won?
Before answering, please understand that this is not an anti-Edwards post. I like Edwards, and I want him to stay as long as he feel he can win. I'm just curious what my fellow DUers think.

1. Yup. And I say this as someone who would love for Edwards to be Pres.
He is on course to do 15% everywhere, even in SC, which he won with 45% of the vote in 2004.
My money is on Clinton to win as long as Edwards and Obama are both in the race.

2. I wouldn't switch from Edwards to Obama; to me Obama's just another corporate sellout.

3. Would you pick Obama over Hillary?
I'm not asking you to change your vote. You obviously like Edwards. I'm just curious who you like more - Hillary or Obama?

8. Hillary's just Bill Clinton with a purse. Obama's just Bill Clinton with a tan.
They're both corporate shills, because that's where their money came from. $100 million didn't come from Aunt Harriet's piggy bank. If the nominee is either Hillary or Obama, the whole election is reduced to: "Which faction of the ruling class will have the reins for the next 4 years?" To me, only Edwards or Kucinich would be an actual change from the status quo of corporate hegemony.

5. I think he would have
He could have done it with those few thousand more votes out of Edwards's if everything else stayed the same. But I am under no illusion, which too many here seem to be, that Edwards voters wouldn't have shifted as heavily to Clinton as to Obama. But if Obama could have pulled just that few thousand extra, sure, he would have won.

6. Hell NO, I would switch from Edwards to Hillary.
I want a tough, no holds barred, liberal in the White House. Not someone who would bring in liars and cheats so they can work together in a bi-partisan manner. Our Democratic Congress is already working in a bi-partisan manner and look what we get.

Give me a fighter and after Edwards, Hillary is the fighter.

7. If Democrats and Independents couldn't vote last night
would Hillary Clinton have lost?

This is a silly question, a false choice.

12. Many Obama supporters here assume that Edwards supporters would move towards him.

15. It is in my world
Everyone in my family and most of my friends are for Obama or Edwards, and none of us like Clinton.

16. Obama might have won in that case.
I think Edwards supporters are more likely to go to Barack rather than Hillary.
