Jon Stewart's reaction to Hillary's 'meltdown': "That's it?"
Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 05:22 PM by TwilightZone
"That's it? That's the emotional breakdown that blows the election for her? I'm glad no one here ever sees me get a flu shot," Stewart said.

Bonus footage - Giuliani turns it into 9/11.

1. wow. that's the first time I've seen the "crying" clip
I'm so ashamed of DU now. 30% of this places needs lining up and slapping like Moe does to Larry and Curly.

Goddamn

18. I can't believe that DU wasted dozens of threads...
and hundreds/thousands of posts on THAT.

It's less than a non-event. No wonder there's been such a backlash.

2. Stewart and Colbert both taped prior to the final results.. so let's see where he goes
with it tonight. I thought the coverage was pretty light-hearted and humorous. His is a voice that's been clearly MISSED in the past two months. All due respect and with high hopes for the writers, I'm glad he's back.

6. I love Jon and I think he takes Rudy's use of 9/11 very personally.
Jon gave one of the most emotional addresses post 9/11 by anyone.

Still makes me cry as he speaks of hope in the darkest of times.

9. Agreed. Jon's post-9/11 address was incredible.
The tragic circumstances aside, it was a very interesting look at Jon Stewart, the person, as opposed to Jon Stewart, the television personality.

I also agree that it seems that Jon takes Rudy's abuse of 9/11 personally. As well he should. It's morbid and immoral.

That bastard let rescue workers like my cousin breathe toxic air and when that was brought up earlier this year he claimed he had breathed the air too even though he spent more time at Yankee games than at ground zero.

Fucking scumbag :grr:

14. I simply cannot fathom what he could have been thinking.
Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 05:39 PM by TwilightZone
The "I've spent as much time at GZ as the rescue workers" comment was one of the dumbest political statements I can recall. Dumb, in part, because it was so easily disprovable.

Unfortunately, one of the only possible conclusions is that he's ridiculously full of himself, and he honestly believes that his "contribution" is equivalent to those who spent months there.

24. exactly -- does America really need a leader who's so self-absorbed ...
... that he'll blurt out things like that?

One is bad enough.
(this is what Bush said when he was visiting troops who had been seriously injured in a war that he started)

After meeting with wounded personnel, Bush joked about what he termed his own injury in combat - from a encounter with a tree on his Crawford ranch.

"As you can possibly see, I have an injury myself - not here at the hospital, but in combat with a cedar. I eventually won,'' he said. "The cedar gave me a little scratch. As a matter of fact, (a) colonel asked if I needed first aid when she first saw me. I was able to avoid any major surgical operations here, but thanks for your compassion, colonel.''

25. Agreed. It's a similar pattern.
When they go off-script, they both tend to speak without thinking. We certainly don't need another 4-8 years of the same Bushisms from a different mouth.

7. LOL Jon! Duke Cunningham was the one who had a real "meltdown"
I can't help thinking of Ole Duke crying like a baby when he got caught for being the crook, that he is. Or John Boehnert crying over why we can't win the war! LOL!!! Hillary looks like a steel butterfly in comparison to those 2 guys! LOL! Go Jon! And Rudy..what else can you say but....9/11! LOL!!!

15. As KO said, the reason "people didn't notice that"
Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 05:40 PM by AtomicKitten
is because the Media Heathers edited it by clipping her attack on Obama (which occurred in the very next sentence without skipping a beat) from their coverage.

I guess people don't see what they don't want to see.

The rest of us saw it.
