Did Carville Tip Bush Off to Kerry Strategy (Woodward)

By M.J. Rosenberg | bio

On page 344, Woodward describes the doings at the White House in the early morning hours of Wednesday, the day after the '04 election.

Apparently, Kerry had decided not to concede. There were 250,000 outstanding ballots in Ohio.

So Kerry decides to fight. In fact, he considers going to Ohio to camp out with his voters until there is a recount. This is the last thing the White House needs, especially after Florida 2000.

-snip

"Carville told her he had some inside news. The Kerry campaign was going to challenge the provisional ballots in Ohio -- perhaps up to 250,000 of them. 'I don't agree with it, Carville said. I'm just telling you that's what they're talking about.'

I believe Clinton & the DLC did not want a K/E victory because it would ruin her chances for several administrations. (imho)

28. me 2. As I have said before,
many times. Bill Clinton is a genius. They say he actually slept in
law school. The professor would wake him up with a question and
he would answer - despite the fact he had been sleeping. Bill
knows every single precinct in the country. He knew full well
the election was stolen. And, he had the ex-president bully
pulpit - but didn't use it.

25. Just me - but I think that Bill could have played a big role in
standing up strong against questionable
election results. If my memory was
right, seems to me like he (Bill) acted
like it was all on the up and up. Please
correct me if I mis-speak.

16. It would have been more weight before NH in a practical sense
Given the geographics. But it's still an important endorsement from great Democrat. I couldn't be more proud that Kerry has endorsed Obama.

5. I was wondering what he was going to do
I was also wondering how he felt about Bill's attack on Obama regarding statements he made about his Iraq vote. Bill knew he was saying that because of Kerry and Edwards vote and didn't want to speak against them during the convention.
