Help me out with this scenario and win a carrot: A twilight zone order of succession
Bloomberg enters the race with Al gore as independents , Obama allies with Clinton, and McCain takes along Guiliani. We have a near three way tie and no one gets a majority count in the electoral college. The college defaults and the vote goes to congress. But the candidates have so many friends there that they can't break a tie either. Swearing in day comes and goes and the Presidency goes to Pelosi or does it.

Now Let's take it a bit further: Say Pelosi and Robert Byrd both lose or retire. Now we don't have a Prez or Vice Prez or Speaker or Pro-tempore. The cabinet is now vacant because they have all resigned as expected. So who the hell minds the store?

3. A poorly understood provision of the Constitution would come into effect...
...and result in Britney Spears being crowned Queen of the Kingdom of America.

You have been warned!

4. Or it could mean
That we can never really have a popular three party system.

5. It would certainly make a huge difference to US politics...
...if coalition government was a real possibility. It's about the only way I can think of that minority interests can realistically have a national voice. Otherwise, we're doomed forever to portmanteau politics, where we end up voting for a large amount of what we don't want, just to get a little of what we do.

6. Coin toss.
If it's good enough for the Superbowl it's good enough for anything.

7. In the House each state gets 1 vote when voting for president. The GOP controls the most states. n/t

9. In such an absurd scenario (Gore's not running!)
the House would elect McCain.

Each state gets one vote, and most states have a majority of Republican representatives.
