I am taking a break from GD/GDP
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 12:08 PM by politicasista
I haven't come out much during the primary wars, except for the last couple of days, but I think I will go back into seclusion. It is way too vicious and ugly for me and all I can say is thank goodness I wasn't here in 03/04.

I guess calling a good patriot and proven hard working liberal senator an "asshole" or "spineless wimp" is a ok here. I never thought I would see those type of childish, mean-spirited attacks coming from posters I respect or read about. I guess sexist attacks on a female Democratic presidential candidate are ok, as are racist e-mails on a black candidate.

I can not be a part of that and I want to say thanks to those that were supportive in a pro-Dem, pro-civil DUer thread yesterday. It helped a lot. And this is coming from someone that has thick skin.

I understand people are bitter, but your anger and energy would be better at trying to defeat the GOP in November and beyond. And if you are wondering, yes, I have a candidate, but I plan to go offline, and find a blog and see if I can contribute something. I think we also have a repuke senator running for re-election (in TN though it hasn't been mention much), but if that's the case, I am waiting to see who the Dem candidate will be. It will be a tough fight in any case.

Anyway, if you already have a candidate, good luck to you. If you are still looking, good luck there also. Work hard for him or her. And may the best person win in November. :hi:

Peace!

2. Thanks
In case anyone wonders, not I am not an attention seeking poster, just observing what I have seen of late as a factor.

3. Peace, Politicasista!
Know where you're coming from. It gets really ugly around here at times--especially of late. It helps to ignore the most inflammatory crap. We could lessen the ugliness, if we did not bite on these posts--ignore them, and they will drop into the oblivion they so richly deserve.

4. Peace to you as well
It is really nasty, that's for sure. People name calling and ascribing venal motives for people who are trying to make sure the Constitution works--its beyond me. But perhaps we deserve the government we have, if this is the attitude of the majority.

14. Faint of heart
but sound of mind. Maybe if there was a guideline such as : never call anyone a name or complain as you would toward Joe Lieberman or Ralph Nader. And never use a word that essentially defines George Bush or the Dickster. And never grant the hapless Dems the same dark conspiratorial skills as the aforementioned WH due.

Half of the reasons the candidates are raising hackles is because Dems don't know how to aim or use the dark side. Which is a good sign, isn't it? We would prefer slick acid and drowning our victims in happy happy soup?

One thing is true. I gotta get off these boards and on the phones.

And WHY is Lieberman on the spellchecker but not Obama? That is damned annoying.

17. I'm in TN, too.. and unfortunately, the party is so entrenched here that
no Democrat has stepped forward yet to even challenge Lamar Alexander. I'm hoping there are some down ballot choices to be had and that someone will step up to the plate. Edwards and Obama are all the buzz in my eastern corner, and I think they'd both have long coattails. Best of luck to you ! I'll be out working the ground, too.

18. I don't blame you,
I spending less and less time here, and on some days, I wonder why I bothered to come back at all.

Relax and enjoy yourself, you'll probably get a more accurate picture of the political landscape anyway. :-)

20. I'm spending less and less time here too.
I used to spend hours every day enjoying DU. Not I check in for a couple minutes each day and feel sickened and go away. 2004 had it's nasty moments but 2008 is FAR worse. We had a lot of arguing back and forth in 2004...but we didn't have all the down right vicious hostility. Fortunately it has just made people resent such people and therefore their candidates and they end up voting and sticking up for Hillary...myself included. Bye for now...maybe If I can muster up the stomach I'll check in tonight...maybe! At least it's cured me of my addition to DU.

21. That's what I've been doing,
just coming online for a few minutes, and leaving. It's a waste of time, nobody's convincing anyone of anything at this point.
