Clinton Adviser Charged With DWI in NH
A senior adviser to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton was arrested and charged with aggravated drunken driving a day before the New Hampshire primary.

Nashua police say Sidney Blumenthal was arrested early Monday morning after an officer pulled over a car traveling 70 mph in a 30 mph zone. Blumenthal, 59, is a journalist and former White House adviser to President Bill Clinton who is now serving as an unpaid adviser on Hillary Clinton's campaign.

"I asked if he was here with a campaign. He said he was here with Clinton," Sgt. Mike Masella, one of the arresting officers, told newsweek.com.

Masella said Blumenthal told him he got lost after leaving a restaurant in Manchester, about 20 miles away, to return to his hotel.

Smelling alcohol, officers said they administered a field sobriety test, which Blumenthal failed. Though Blumenthal declined to take a Breathalyzer test, he was arrested on a charge of aggravated drunken driving due to the speed, Masella said.

12. Aggrevating factor
A Dodd staffer was busted for drunk driving over the summer, and he had his license suspended for 12-18 months. The fact that he was travelling at a high speed in a crowded area didn't help his cause.

2. Much of the Bush administration are in legal trouble...many headed for jail
Why bring up Blumenthal? It is a sad tale of the very good man, and a great writer. Leave it alone.

8. It certainly is to me. Let's blame Hillary for it.
Since I actually favor hanging drunk drivers (residual bitterness over a dead two-year-old), that would mean we could rid ourselves of her once and for all. Or does that sound like a lynching.

10. Now, there's no need to blame Hillary.
Just her judgment.

9. Hypocritical?
Isn't that hypocritical? If this had been a republican advisor we would have torched him. Lets be honest folks.

11. He's not a good man
This isn't abstract for me. I drive the roads between manchester and Nashua all the time, and so do many of my relatives and friends.

What if an innocent person ended up dead because of Blumenthal's stupidity? What f a teenager had to spend the rest of his or her life in a wheelchair? What if someone lost a child, parent, husband, wife, or best friend? Would the fact that your life was ruined by a wealthy, well-connected Washington FOB make the pain fade away?

Sidney Blumenthal is a nasty, arrogant Washington twit who thinks the law does not apply to him. I hope that he doesn't get special treatment. New Hampshire usually suspends the license of anyone who does not submit to a breathalyzer test, and I hope that, if reciprocity exists with Blumenthal's home state (presumably DC, VA or MD), he receives the same treatment.

14. I know what I need to know
This asshat was driving 70 in a 30 zone. It's in my home county. He could have killed a friend or a relative.

Madfloridian, if this were a GOP staffer, or some anonymous roofer from Hudson or Tyngsboro, you wouldn't have a shred of sympathy. The fact that he is a prominent Democratic talking head seems to excuse the inexcusable in your eyes.
