If Obama thinks that the statement Bill Clinton made was racist
Then it may be the first example of Obama having a "glass jaw". I heard what Clinton said and there was absolutely nothing offensive, racist or suggestive in it. Not living in the U.S. I do miss a lot of debates and speeches. Could someone please advise me of Obama's main policies. All I have heard is that he wants to bring "change". Are there any details about that?

15. Thankyou for reminding me of your reply
It sounds quite admirable what he is promising. In regards to his health policy. Do you think he could ever create a situation where anybody (insured or not) is entitled to life-saving surgery at minimal cost or no cost at all?

7. "Surrogates." Weren't you the one complaining
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 07:42 PM by Occam Bandage
that "Everyone who had ever met a Clinton" was being called a "Clinton surrogate?" I suppose it's too much to ask for some consistency.

Based on what passes for actual discourse on DU GD-P these days.

No. So why would you post something suggesting he did? Interesting that you're posting this along with the tired meme that Obama hasn't proposed specific policies. He has. Use the search function; a lot has been posted and linked.

I've been waiting to hear from anyone in Chicago ... constituency service is the first obligation of a senator and there should be success stories. I find the absence telling.

16. I admit to being ignorant of a lot of facts
Thats why I was asking for enlightenment. I just cant help thinking that Obama is only a temporary phenomenon and that when the going gets tough he may crumble. I would like to see him serve an apprenticeship as vice president for four to eight years first.

21. I do believe she/he said "If" not "When" ... it was a request for information and a defense of Bill
I'd vote for any Democrat before Hillary but seriously the racist accusation from the Obama supporters (and I'm prepared to believe
Obama didn't say it himself) ought to be roundly refuted. It's ludicrous to suggest Bill was being racist when he said what he did.

Obama is getting away much too easily with avoiding talk on substantive issues. He does excellent sermons like MLK, but it is president he's running for.

20. Obama is not a preacher....he doesn't do sermons
The Original man from Hope used MLK and JFK to promote his candidacy.....and although Bill Clinton talked a lot, he wasn't said to preach a sermon. So why say that about OBama? Can you help me with that one? Thanks.

22. His speaking style seems very much like delivering a sermon.
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 08:57 PM by ozone_man
Talking about coming down from the mountain or whatever he said at NH speech. It was a very good speech. Or was that Iowa? I don't know where he picked that style up, but he's very good at it.

I'm interested more in specifics, not the generalities that he talks in. The country is heading into the biggest recession/depression of our lifetime. We're going to need more than to "hope" our way out of it.

That style is very effective for pulling in the less informed, the people that respond to Hollywood stars, but to those looking for the meat, it's not convincing that there is any. I have to agree partially with Bill Clinton on that one. Let Obama get down to brass tacks in the next debate. Let them all do that of course. But leave the sermon at the church.

23. Sermons are not based on the tone or inflections one has in one's voice
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 09:58 PM by FrenchieCat
a sermon is a discussion to be given in reference to a religious topic.

Hillary has no more specifics in her speeches.....

Hillary just acts like she does.

Here's some of Obama's accomplishments. Hillary lies when she said she does hard word, and Obama just talks. Guess you have fallen for the "empty suit" meme she keeps pushing.
