I'm watching "Rescue Dawn" and thinking about what John McCain went through
and first thought to myself "Damn, that guy has been through hell and back", and I have the utmost respect for him.

Then I started thinking, which apparently not something freepers do.

What kind of person, who went through that kind of torture, would send our guys to war, at the same time promoting our own torture, and pretend our guys should be treated any better?

John, I have a great amount of respect of you, but please, bow out. You weren't meant to be President. You served your country, as have I, and you've sacrificed much in the name of honor, but John, you aren't it.

1. McCain does not support torture. However, he has no problem
with troops dying for nothing, which is even worse. He's emotionally unstable, and should not be allowed to carry the "football".

8. What's sad is that, the feeling he's unstable is bipartisan........
sad for him, that is. Maybe there's something to it. maybe not. either way, hope he doesn't get the Republican nod.

6. Winston Churchill said:
“A prisoner of war is a man who tries to kill you and fails, and then asks you not to kill him.”

10. Churchill was once a prisoner himself
He escaped, but he was a prisoner himself during the Boer War.

Plus, anybody who knows anything about the life of Winston Churchill knows that his own personal safety was never his concern.

He used to drive people mad with his reckless behavior. Insisting on watching dog-fights from a rooftop for instance.

There was nothing 'bunker' about Churchill.

He was no Dick Cheney

13. Don't ever forget that McCain was one of the Keating Five, the group...
in Arizona who actually kicked off the Savings and Loan scandal for which we are all still paying. Neil Bush was involved at the same time in the Silverado Savings and Loan debacle.

McCain lived for 6 years in the Hanoi Hilton. During those 6 years, a lot of very good men died. Why did he live? Did he capitulate to the enemy?

McCain is just another right-wing crook.

Attacking a man's war record is what the Republican slime machine does.

We're better than that.

Disagree with McCain on policy. Disagree with McCain on his current principles. But don't attack the man's war record. The evidence seems to suggest that since he was an Admiral's son, that he was offered early release, but refused it.

He was plenty brave. He should be honored for that. He should be eviscerated for his political stance.
