Not that it matters. This election is not about issues.
1. The big thing Obama has going for him on the issues is that was against the war from the start. So were a lot of other people (like myself) ... some of them are real ass bags. (Pat Buchanon was against the war. You wouldn't suggest I vote for him, would ya?) Just because a guy was against the war doesn't mean he has what it takes to lead America in what I regard as a uniquely dangerous time in our history. We face many unprecedented challenges, and after 7 years of Bushista rule we are not in a good position to deal with them.
2. His approach to health care is tepid. I refer you to recent writings of Paul Krugman.
3. There is nothing in his energy policy that stands out. Pretty much rehashed old stuff from 15 years ago or more. Burning food for fuel is worse than useless given the energy cost of growing crops in the first place ... so I think everyone on that bandwagon is lame. (Yes, John, that means you, too.)
4. His approach to middle eastern affairs I regard as being dangerous in the extreme. For example, during the debates the man actually said he would send troops into Pakistan to hunt for Bin Laden. I myself would love to do that ... but, uh, these guys have nukes, and the consequences of such an incursion must be seriously weighed in that context. If Pakistan destabilizes, a really bad situation is created, and other nuclear powers' interests and fears suddenly come to the forefront.
5. He does not get it. The corporatocracy represents the single greatest threat to American security in existance today. It must be checked. No one is advocating its destruction ... however, it must definitely be put back in its proper place. I just don't think Obama gets that. The Chamber of Commerce has recently made it clear it disapproves of such talk. Fuck 'em. Vote Edwards.
You get the idea. There is much talk of the politics of change, but I just ain't seeing much change being created by either the Clinton or Obama platforms.
Still, either of them is worthy of my vote in the general election. At the very least, we will have a better managed implementation of the "same old shit" ... and at this point in our history even that modest improvement would be a welcome relief.
