I don't get the Drudge hate
Damn people, other than when he attempts to do his own reporting, all he does is compile news sources. It's like having 20 tabs of 20 different newspapers open in 1.

Maybe it is slanted in his headlines. But I've seen it slanted both ways.

Anyone want to elaborate on why so much hate for a site that only, for the most part, compiles news?

2. He runs things that sometimes prove untrue, but... most of the time he's right.
As long as one realizes there's a RW slant, there's no real problem with him.

8. A RW "slant"?
He is the mouthpiece for the spin the RNC wants put out to the media.

22. He's got links to two polls up now above the headline
The first, he writes the link:
NEW WASHPOSTABCNEWS POLL: LARGE SHIFT TO OBAMA...
(the story at the link has a poll at Clinton 42 Obama 37, indeed a shift to Obama since their poll a month ago)

the second poll he headlines:
NYTCBSNEWS: MCCAIN NOW 'MOST FAVORED'...
(if you follow this link, the poll has Clinton at 42 and Obama at 27 essentially unchanged since December)

So, the poll that shows Obama has momentum gets a headling trumpeting Obama's momentum

The poll that shows Clinton holding steady with a huge 15 point lead gets a headline about McCain.

He tries to create a media meme. In this case his meme for the week is that Obama is gaining on Clinton. That may be true or not, but that's his AGENDA.

9. Yes, but he isn't making these stories up
Only occasionally is it a "Drudge news story."

He may run things that aren't true, but he for the most part only runs what others are reporting.

25. Did you see the story he posted a few weeks ago about Edwards love child?
That story was all over Right Wing radio because they check on Drudge every day. Drudge is notorious for posting complete crap and the right wing picking it up as regular news and quoting him. It's a symbiotic relationship. Drudge throws them a bone every few days of completely false news that they can use to get ratings and swiftboat someone and they in turn pay him off. He also rips up the Republican candidates the Republican establishment wants gone like Huckabee and Ron Paul.

He breaks stuff about candidates and the Right Wing talk show hosts quote him all day long then at the end of the day that article is proved wrong yet they got away with the lies because they could quote Drudge all day long.

You should have seen the lies he put out about Wes Clark! And the Right Wing still repeats those lies today. It's maddening!

Another Moon publication, now just online, is called Insight Magazine. They played a hand in the Obama muslim school attacks. Here's what they did, then follow the links from their website to see how the rumor spread.

From Moon Waning article above:

Earlier this year Insight, Moon's former print news weekly -- which is currently online only -- reported that Hillary Clinton's opposition research team had dug up information on her Democratic Party rival for the 2008 presidential nomination, Barack Obama that had him attending a fundamentalist Muslim "madrassah" while a young child and that he was seeking to conceal his allegiance to Islam. According to Parry, "The Insight attack on Obama was framed as a heartfelt desire to test out the credibility of the 45-year-old Illinois senator who identifies himself as a Christian and belongs to a church in Chicago. 'He was a Muslim, but he concealed it,' a source supposedly close to Clinton's background investigation of Obama told Insight. 'The idea is to show Obama as deceptive.'"

"Insight used no named sources for the allegations, nor did the magazine check out the facts about the school." The report "quickly spread to the wider audiences of Rupert Murdoch's right-wing media outlets

Here are the "media outlets", the links given at the Insight Magazine. Note them carefully.

24. Hillary plays footsie with Drudge now.
"Mrs. Clinton’s aides declined to discuss how the Drudge Report got access to her latest fund-raising figures nearly 20 minutes before the official announcement went to supporters. But it was a prime example of a development that has surprised much of the political world: Mrs. Clinton is learning to play nice with the Drudge Report and the powerful, elusive and conservative-leaning man behind it."

27. He tried to derail John Kerry's campaign with the lie about his alleged mistress
who was an intern. He was desperately trying to play right wing hero again, to recapture the glory of his Monica Lewinski days. Only that time it was pure deception, fraud and irresponsible gossip from unreliable sources. After that utter fiasco, I was surprised that anyone could take him seriously anymore.

29. Drudge puts up crap and pulls it only after others call him on it.
Case in point. The supposed affair that Kerry had with a female staffer which never occurred and which she, her parents and Kerry denied but somehow stayed up on his site until I'm guessing Kerry and/or the DNC threatened legal action.

He's refined his RW technique, and keeps BS up briefly when it's crap, but just long enough for happily ignorant to spread his lies.

Hope that answers your question, but I anticipate you'll explain to me his "journalistic" credentials. Funny that he missed the Craig story though. Hmmm. MKJ

He is not a legitimate news source yet the MSM treats him as one with is an outrage. I thought it was interesting that he came out so strongly against Huckabee and Ron Paul. He is obviously being paid to do what he does for the right wing.

47. Sure he compiles news from other sources, BUT
And it's big but, he picks and chooses which stories he wants to put up. Cherry picking stories to make Conservatives look good and Liberals look bad is just as non-objective as making stories up from whole cloth, which he has also been known to do on occasion.

Bias is bias. FoxNews doesn't often completely make up the stories they report, but the WAY they report news borders on slanderous. Drudge may as well be called FoxNews online.
