The wisdom of Solomon: an alternative interpretation
My kids tell me that this is from The Cartoon History of the Universe by Larry Gonick.

Remember the story about the two women lived together with their two children? They awoke one day to find one child dead. The mothers came before Solomon each claiming to be the mother of the living child. Solomon's proposal was to cut the child in half, giving half to each woman. The child's actual mother immediately begged Solomon to give the child to the other woman, thus proving by her love that she was the real mother.

The alternative interpretation is this: the living child is Israel. Others had a better claim to the throne than Solomon. What he was telling everyone was that he would kill the child (Israel) by cutting it in half (Fighting a civil war) before he gave up the throne.

I am reminded of this story because I think Hillary Clinton would tear this party apart if she is not given the nomination.

2. "Hillary Clinton would tear this party apart if she is not given the nomination"
...what? What on Earth does that mean? If she doesn't win the nomination, she'll return to the Senate and continue fighting for the Democratic platform, just as Obama will if he doesn't win the nomination.

4. I think the remarks she and her supporters have made over the last
few days have been so focused on taking Obama down she isn't paying attention to the fact that she is alienating a lot of people. This should be the Democratic Party's year to shine. Instead of being focused on the War in Iraq, health care, wages, jobs, college costs, global warming etc etc we're all talking about whether what so-and-so said was racist, whether it is playing the race card to call something racist, whether Hillary is responsible for what her supporters say etc. etc.

5. This is the stage in a primary where the gloves come off. No matter what happens,
at the DNC, everyone will have make-up sex, kiss, and we'll be back to normal.

7. I urge you to reconsider. Clinton is infinitely better than any Republican.

3. Your theory is that Clinton has the political flexibility of an internet poster?
And you derive this insight from a cartoon book? Thanks for that!
