He really hit it out of the park tonight. He showed his vast knowledge and substance on all issues and looked extremely presidential tonight. He looked so intelligent tonight and I am so proud of this man.

15. That is the standard "empty suit" attribute that the Clinton supporters
try to throw at Obama

The fact is anyone who graduated magna cum laude from Harvard, and an expert in Constitutional Law IS NOT AN EMPTY SUIT

If they have a specific point to make they should be specific, otherwise it is pure garbage

10. You've lost what is left of your mind, journalist3072.
If Obama saved you a burning building, you'd still blame him for not getting you out of the building sooner.

You need a doctor.

He represents the American dream, but that is OK, you don't want to state specifics, let me give YOU some specifics

Bankrupcy bill, clinton voted yes
IWR clinton voted yes
Kyle/Liberman amendment, clinton voted yes
Patriot act clinton voted yes

I'll tell you what, maybe we need an empty suit who won't just vote yes on WAR

Edited on Wed Jan-16-08 12:28 AM by still_one
Obama did not have the influence or wealth of the bush family

The majority of people using the "empty suit" nonesense are coming from the Clinton camp, and if that is how they represent THEIR candidate, then that doesn't say much for THEIR candidate

He graduated from Columbia in 1983, and Harvard Magna Cum Laude.

If there are specific issues you have against Obama's positions bring them up, including if he mischaracterizes his opponents

However, the more I hear this nonesense about Obama being an empty suit, or no experience, the more angry I get, because there is NO basis for that. If I continue to hear this kind of CRAP, along with inuendo about Obama not being experienced to handle 9/11, I will eventually reach the point that if Clinton wins the nomination, she can forget about my vote IN THE GENERAL ELECTION.

That point has happened yet, but it is getting close for me, and if you don't believe EVERY VOTE COUNTS, then continue the politics of falsehood and misleading statement

36. He did go to Harvard business school, but that was not the context of the discussion
we were talking law school, and in BOTH instances, bush had the influence and means of his family that got him into either school, which otherwise would have NEVER happened

but it is typical of those who voted for the IWR, the patriot act, the Lieberman/Kyle amendment, the bankrupcy bill, and much more that make me question the judgement of those who support such candidates

I am no fan of his, but he did very well tonight.
All of them did.
Before I was very against Obama and said I would not vote for him the in GE.
I have definitely changed my mind on that....
Especially after seeing that nutjob Huckabee today - I am proud of all of our candidates and will gladly vote for whomever our nominee is in Nov.

It's good to be a Democrat. We have 3 great candidates. The Republicans have a steaming pile of shit.

with clarity. I believe he would listen to Joe's advice, as well, since they seem to line up on the issues and in philosophy.

42. oh hell if obama just sat there laid back with that big grin on his
face he would of won the debate.....obama has a problem....OBAMA made a STUPID COMMENT today that will haunt him, and HRC referenced it tonight and when he tried to respond he again was not coherent...... In other words, Obama is running as a figurehead who can give a good speech but will leave the hard stuff like running the government to people "smarter than him."

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com /

*** We wonder if this will come up at the debate: “Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama freely admits he doesn’t have the experience to run a bureaucracy. But he’s banking on the fact voters aren’t looking for a ‘chief operating officer’ in this election. ‘I have a pretty good sense of my strengths and my weaknesses,’ he said today during a meeting with the Reno Gazette-Journal editorial board. ‘I am very good at teasing out from people who are smarter than me what the issues are and how we resolve them,’ he said. ‘I don’t think there is anybody in this race who can inspire the American people better than I can. And I don’t think there is anybody in this race who can bridge differences ... better than I cann. But I’m not an operating officer. Some in this debate around experience seem to think the job of the president is to go in and run some bureaucracy. Well, that’s not my job. My job is to set a vision of “here’s where the bureaucracy needs to go.”’”
