Edwards Statement On The UNITE HERE Radio Ads
http://www.johnedwards.com/news/headlines/20080117-unite-here-radio-ads/
Chapel Hill, North Carolina – John Edwards released the following statement about the UNITE HERE radio ads that are running in Nevada:

"Just three weeks ago Senator Obama was calling on me and Senator Clinton to demand that outside groups not run ads on our behalf. These new ads look like the same old nasty divisive politics that both Senators Obama and Clinton denounced just two days ago. It is extremely important for us to quit focusing on fights between politicians and instead focus on what we need to do for working people, for the Latino community in Nevada and across the country."

2. Complaining about voter suppression = "nasty"?
That's a rather low bar.

7. The right wing "race card" attack meme again. Shame.
I've had it with this shit. If the mods here at DU are fine with this reactionary right-wing bullshit, then I'm done with this cesspool of a site. Sorry I ever donated money to it.

12. The ad suggests Hillary is a racist. Is it wrong to comment on it?
Edited on Fri Jan-18-08 04:46 AM by jackson_dem
Maybe you should tell your candidate to run the campaign he promised and this stuff will not come up again regarding him?

I've condemned both the Hillary and Obama campaigns for using the race card/race-baiting.

4. As usual, Edwards gets to the meat of the matter
He's been accused with "aligning" with Obama. Now he calls Obama out about an anti-Clinton ad. So does that mean he's aligning with Clinton?

Or maybe, just maybe, he's aligning with the American people.

5. Edwards is desperate for free media
The guy is running out of money fast, he needs all the attention he can possibly get.

As for "focusing on what we need to do for the working people" it would seem that helping them to participate in the democratic process would fall into that category.

13. Edwards had far less money in 2004
Remember how he had to drop out because of a lack of funds in January that year?

9. no its not ok
It is a pretty ugly add. True but ugly. I hope he distances himself from it.

Of course its worlds apart from a 527 created by top luitenants of ones own campaign used to funnel money into the campaign in order to skirt campaign financing laws.

heres the add translated

Hillary Clinton does not respect our people. Hillary Clinton supporters went to court to prevent working people to vote this Saturday - that is an embarrassment.

Hillary Clinton supporters want to prevent people from voting in their workplace on Saturday.

This is unforgivable.

Hillary Clinton is shameless.

Hillary Clinton should not allow her friends to attack our people's right to vote this Saturday. This is unforgivable, there's no respect

Senator Obama is defending our right to vote. Senator Obama wants our votes. He respects our votes, our community, and our people.

Senator Obama's campaign slogan is "Si Se Puede" ("Yes We Can").

Vote for a president that respects us, and that respects our right to vote.

Obama for president, ""Si Se Puede" ("Yes We Can").

10. Um, can we see the ad?
It sounds like it is not being put out by Obama's official campaign, nor do you know what group is putting the ad out. How about you make an informed attack?

Here is one put out by Bob Buchanan, that was not endorsed by the Obama campaign, and later switched.

14. The gloves came off a few weeks ago when Bill started lying about Hillary and his positions.
Edited on Fri Jan-18-08 05:38 AM by Major Hogwash
I could not believe it when Bill Clinton made the astounding claim that he was against the war from the start.

That's one.

Then Bill said that Obama's opposition to the war was "a fairy tale".

That's two.

Then Bill said that his wife didn't mean anything about Obama when she brought up MLK.

That's three.

Yesterday Bill said that the Nevada caucus was flawed by letting them vote in casinos because only casino workers would be able to caucus there.

That's four.

And to be honest, it does depend on what the definition of "is" is.

Bill Clinton IS a fuckin' liar!!
