Reagan's Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Samuel Pierce invited a group of black mayors from across the country to the White House to meet with President Reagan. While socializing with the group before the meeting, Reagan came face to face with Pierce (who was black) and exclaimed "Hello, Mr. Mayor!"
