Russ Feingold: Edwards is Running on my Record
MyDD's Jonathan Singer caught this harsh passage in an interview with Russ Feingold:

"The one that is the most problematic is Edwards, who voted for the Patriot Act, campaigns against it. Voted for No Child Left Behind, campaigns against it. Voted for the China trade deal, campaigns against it. Voted for the Iraq war … He uses my voting record exactly as his platform, even though he had the opposite voting record.

When you had the opportunity to vote a certain way in the Senate and you didn't, and obviously there are times when you make a mistake, the notion that you sort of vote one way when you're playing the game in Washington and another way when you're running for president, there's some of that going on."

2. I guess he should have ran.
I like Russ, but he sounds like the guy in the stands who says "I could have caught that ball".

5. Ah, politico and Ben Smith, of recent "shuck and jive" fame.
Except that Russ Feingold never spoke the words "Edwards is running on my record". But, paraphrasing in a distorting manner is a Smith/politico specialty.

7. I don't like Ben Smith
but he is accurate in this case.

As quoted by the Appleton, WI newspaper, Feingold said:

The one that is the most problematic is (John) Edwards, who voted for the Patriot Act, campaigns against it. Voted for No Child Left Behind, campaigns against it. Voted for the China trade deal, campaigns against it. Voted for the Iraq war … He uses my voting record exactly as his platform, even though he had the opposite voting record.

6. I'm afraid it's true. We have had a quite impressive slate of nominees and
compared to the Republican nominees - ours are not just intelligent, they are sane.

But, all of them have problems - just as in other decades.

Edward's voting record apalls me, so does Clintons, and I'm still not for Obama because he is still a mystery to me and I'm not thrilled with some things I've heard him say.

My first choice - Al Gore; second, Feingold; third, Kucinich - for their values, agenda, record, and statements.

Russ Feingold - the ONLY Senator to vote against the Patriot Act. Now that makes for a fine patriot.

He may not be President this time, but I will be with him if he runs the next time.

9. That is one reason I don't support Edwards. The other is his attacks
that go below the belt. Too ugly for me.
