7. John Kerry obviously felt Edwards could be a president were Kerry to have
taken the White House and, god forbid, died, placing Edwards in the Oval Office.

Seems to me John Kerry's judgment is pretty sound. I'm sure the OP agrees.

13. At least it was until Kerry realized that Democratic activists
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 04:46 AM by JDPriestly
wanted Edwards, not Kerry himself, to run in 2008.

I was very active for Kerry/Edwards in 2004 and was on Kerry's e-mail list. He tried to get a campaign started for 2008, but could not get the grassroots support. I think Kerry is very jealous that Edwards has been able to do what Edwards has done.

Kerry is too pompous. That is why he could not get rural votes. I have a rural background. Country folks see through all that pompous conceit. Shoveling a little manure every once in a while helps you recognize what's real and what's not.

18. Hi, JDPriestly. I can't speak for Sen. Kerry's motives, but his call on John
Edwards in 2004 was the call of a perfect-pitch musician who now endorses Obama, suggesting unexplained fluctuation.

If JRE was sound and fit for the presidency in 04 he is if anything far more sound and fit now. Leaving that unexplained or unaddressed does not argue in favor of Kerry's call then, and since I backed John Kerry for the presidency, I choose to believe he got it right the first time.

I also am drawn to posts in blogs which argue in favor of one's candidate and not those whose intent appears to debase others' candidates.

the PATRIOT Act and vote for the first bankruptcy bill?

21. Some cowboys stay on the bronco longer than others. It looks as if ol' Wes
Clark is hat-in-handing his way to the veep nom with Hillary.

In any outcome, Clark2008, I love it when you post against Democratic candidates. I just love it. It's jack-in-the-box city.

25. Edwards voted for only one trade agreement -- Clinton's China Bill
Edwards fought the corporations for years. Edwards was the first to propose a health insurance plan that will include all Americans. Obama's leaves 15,000,000 Americans uninsured. Hillary's will be written by the health insurance providers and the pharmaceutical companies. Can't wait to see the deductibles in her plan.

Edwards was the first and has the safest environmental plan.

Edwards recognized years ago that economic issues would be the most important in 2008.

Edwards' is not a career politician, but he does have a life of public service as a plaintiff's attorney behind him. In that way, he is like Nader. No one would say that Nader has not done anything in his life. I personally like the fact that Edwards is not a part of the in crowd of D.C. politicians. I've had enough of Reid, Pelosi, Kerry, etc. They talk but don't act on their talk.

12. I'm for Edwards 100%. He is the only candidate I could back.
I'm by nature skeptical. It is hard for me to believe that I can't find anything I dislike about Edwards. I tend to be a perfectionist in some areas. It is not like me to find a candidate so utterly flawless. But Edwards is --- flawless. I agree with his stands on each issue. I like him as a person. I adore his family.

I saw him in person at fairly close range for a couple of minutes yesterday. I like the fact that he is kind, but efficient, focused and businesslike. That is what I want in a president.

16. whoa
your post says everything I need to know. I find it frightening that you can't find anything to criticize him about and actually find him flawless. I find my chosen candidate a mixed bag, and frequently post about things I disagree with him about both in policy and in his history. I find even more flaws in your candidate and Clinton, and I have never ever found any candidate "flawless". I don't do political hero worship. It's dangerous as hell. And people who do it are fucking scary.

And the numerous other ones like it. It was Obamites who swiftboated Edwards in the blogosphere and grassroots for a year. Fuck them. Fuck Obama. It is Edwards or Hillary as a last resort.
