A Topic We Can All Agree On: Bush should be impeached for
destroying evidence.

Apparent gaps in White House e-mail archives coincide with dates in late 2003 and early 2004 when the administration was struggling to deal with the CIA leak investigation and the possibility of a congressional probe into Iraq intelligence failures.

The gaps — 473 days over a period of 20 months — are cited in a chart prepared by White House computer technicians and shared in September with the House Reform and Government Oversight Committee, which has been looking into reports of missing e-mail.

Among the times for which e-mail may not have been archived from Vice President Dick Cheney's office are four days in early October 2003, just as a federal probe was beginning into the leak of Valerie Plame's CIA identity, an inquiry that eventually ensnared Cheney's chief of staff.

Chairman Waxman Schedules Hearing to Examine Preservation of White House E-mails

On February 15, the Committee will hold a hearing to investigate White House compliance with the Presidential Records Act. Statements made at the January 17 White House press briefing contradict information provided to the Committee, which revealed that a 2005 White House analysis found no archived mail for hundreds of days between 2003 and 2005.

The following officials have been invited to testify:

o Fred Fielding, Counsel to the President
o Alan Swendiman, Director, Office of Administration
o Allen Weinstein, Archivist of the United States

I can't wait. If they don't impeach Bush over this flap, I just might start my own party. Thank heavens, the hearings are set post-February 5. Let's watch this carefully. I am posting this in the wee hours of the morning California time. So, if you see it, please kick it or post a new version of this information so that all DUers will be prepared for this.
