Let's face it. Bill and Hillary only think Reagan is an ASSHOLE in election years

Hillary and I will always remember President Ronald Reagan for the way he personified the indomitable optimism of the American people, and for keeping America at the forefront of the fight for freedom for people everywhere.

I'm no fan of Reagan, but lets be honest Barack did not praise him as much as he pointed out how he affected change. More importantly, not knowing Obama's true opinion of Reagan he does not appear to have contradicted himself on anything he has said about Reagan in the past.

1. When called upon to make a statement, especially upon the death of a president,
of COURSE the statement should be gracious and positive. There's a level of decorum and propriety that's expected.

In fact, I don't think it serves any of them well to diss a former president. I'd like to hear it, but it probably wouldn't be really smart of them.

I think the difference is whether and how someone reaches for a person's name (any famous person, president or not) and brings it into the dialogue purposely, to make a point.

3. You can spin it anyway you want. . .the said it and they own it. . .
. . .you can rationalize it all you want, but if they are going to attack Obama for his recognition of Reagan's contribution then they can't pick and choose what people dig up what they said about Reagan.

4. Certainly they can't "pick and choose what people dig up"
I'm just saying there's nothing wrong with the quote.

I'm not following all this as closely as you seem to be -- how did "they" "attack Obama for his recognition of Reagan's contribution?"

5. They and all of their supporters are criticizing Obama for pointing out that
Reagan was a change agent and that he changed this country more significantly that even Bill. He never complemented or praised him but the Clinton and Edwards camps as well as their supporters are all over him.

7. I didn't see a statement from the Clintons.
But I think anytime a Democratic candidate says a Republican did something "more significantly" than a Democrat, they're going to get a response.

2. I agree. I thought we were living in the revised Reagan years under the last Clinton reign
"don't ask, don't tell" for example.

6. I agree, and same with Edwards
Obama was more truthful than either of them.

8. Obama used Republican Code Words for dissing progressive Dems in his pro Reagan speech
He referred specifically to "excesses of 60s and 70s" a time when people worked for freedom and equality and ending war.

9. Well, at least they don't kiss Reagan's ass in an election year. Instead, they kick Repukian ass. nt

10. Obama made the glorification of Ronnie Reagan part of his campaign. When the
Clintons flip out like that, get back to us.
