That John Edwards is doing as well as he is, well that's a small miracle in itself
Let's face it. The Democratic Party, and any media they can garner with them, is out to make history and nominate either a woman or African American. Hey, I'm fine with that, and it will be wonderful if we do make history, but John Edwards is truly behind the 8-ball. He's not only fighting his peers tooth and nail for the nomination, but he's fighting against history in the making.

In a campaign year that's clearly out to make history one way or the other, Edwards is left by the wayside. There is no doubt about that. For him to be participating at such a monumental disadvantage....and still hanging in there as a possible threat to the top two contenders.... well that speaks volumes about his legitimacy as a contender himself. The media mocks him for being such a distant third, well my hat's off to him for doing as well as he's doing, considering that the circumstances are all stacked against him.

1. IT'S A TOTAL MIRACLE! Without the corporation money, Clinton and Obama wouldn't even have.....
... their names anywhere, not if they had to do with the little money Edwards has. The man (Edwards) is AMAZING!

3. Totally agree.
And never thought i'd hear that from you mtnsnake :). In reality, he's only 8 pledged delegates behind Obama and 7 behind Clinton. He's neck and neck in nevada, and a win there would do wonders for momentum.

4. This is the year that Dems & the media are going for history, so where does that leave Edwards?
All he is is a top-tier candidate arguably as good as anyone. However, the Democratic Primary has become a battle to see which of Obama and Hillary could make history first. There is no doubt about that. The media has bought the storyline.

9. But the problem is
Do we want to make "history" with the "first" black president, or the first "woman" president, or do we want to take this country back from the republicans who have ran it into the ground? Do we want "real" change, or do we want to sit by and watch thing stay the same?

It's one thing to want to make "history", but it's another thing if we can't win back the whitehouse!

5. I'd Like a Real Miracle!
But then , if he were to win the nomination some "lone gunman" or a "plane crash" might get him!
I've already heard what I consider to be a threat against The Hill. Guy said, "It may take million women to get her in, but it'd only take one MAN to get her out!"
People can be very scary!

7. Some of us are a little worried.
He has no real security and refused secret service protection so it wouldn't interfere with his access to the people. He is pissing off powerful people.

8. I Know.
He is so approachable that if the POWERS THAT BE saw that he was a THREAT they might try to take him out.

6. Actually
I'd say he is underachieving. Everybody knows who John Edwards is. He was the VP nominee on the Kerry ticket. He had a chance to get his limelight by winning Iowa and it didn't happen. The media knows how to pick up on one trick ponies... and that is Edwards.

10. Aww... he has to run against a woman and a black man.
Poor widdle Johnny!

This argument was racist and sexist when Elizabeth Edwards made it a year ago. It's a vineyard of sour grapes.
