Pro-Clinton union members handing out T-shirts as Strip workers gather to caucus

Members of the pro-Hillary Clinton AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees), walking into the lion’s den, are handing out Clinton t-shirts outside a Paris Las Vegas ballroom as Strip workers are gathering to caucus in a few minutes.

Gerald W. McEntee, international president of the 1.4 million member union, was himself talking to caucus goers, and told me during a break that “we have a ground mobilization. We have probably 200 peole from our union in Nevada.”

The AFSME members were not hesitant in identifying themselves to me as they handed out white T-shirts, clearly intended to be be worn by Culinary workers who are prepared to break ranks with the union’s endorsement of Barack Obama. The T-shirts read, in bold red, capital letters: “I support my union, I support Hillary Clinton.”

both Obama and Clinton are going to work for AFSME members if elected... and so the endorsement is more about the union leaders than its members...
