Ref: Obama's mention of Reagan and the GOP - nation of fools
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 03:37 PM by nomad1776
I have come to the conclusion, based on reactions (many on this very board) that we, taken as a whole, are a nation of idiots. The man had a very indepth and intelligent conversation about so many different aspects of politics, the Country and the Presidency. It was very educational and insightful. Yet all the intellectually challenged can do is latch on to his comments about Reagan and the GOP. You know he was correct in what he said, but that doesn't stop our nation of fools from latching on and distorting. It really sickens me to see such nonsense. Yet these same FOOLS are the ones beating their chests and talking about shallow politicians that are nothing but sound bites. Well when you have a politician that tries to have an intelligent discourse with the nation, THIS is what happens, what do you expect?

1. Most didn't even listen to the whole interview......

2. not idiots
we have a nation of complaciency. Not alot of people are interested in politics. Alot of those that are hardly bother to educate themselves, they figure they can watch the news see where the wind blows then go along with it (as long as they have d or r after the name they wont see a prob) Alot of people still don't see whats happening with america, yeah grocieries go up in price abit but not to much. people need to wake up. they are not stupid just don't realize whats happening.

3. After 7 years of George Bush in the White House, whether he
really won the elections or not, we as a nation are still putting up with him.

In spite of the lies.

In spite of the corruption.

In spite of the hypocrisy, the bigotry, the arrogance.

So, yes, I think nation of fools is pretty accurate.

Perhaps that should be nation of COMPLACENT fools. Few do anything until they're forced to.

And it's happening again this election cycle. (Not meant as a dig at anyone in particular, other than perhaps the powers that be that call all the shots in America.) :(

4. I listened to the whole thing, it was awful. His spokesperson is touting Reagan on air now.
It makes me sick.

6. K&R - It reminds me of LieBerman...
:-( "Beginning with the election of Ronald Reagan, many Democrats in power drifted away from the core values of the Democratic Party and started running as “Republican-lite” candidates. They started trying to compete for corporate campaign money by permitting awful trade agreements that undermined the health of the American economy and weakened the American middle class while helping the economic elite become even more powerful."
Some Democrats playing footsie with Republicans and large corporations failed working Americans and the poor ... more... http://www.opednews.com/maxwrite/print_friendly.php?p=opedne_stephen__071223_edwards_is_fdr_with_.htm

7. Only a fool would not give credit to Reagan
He may have lead the nation in the wrong direction, but he was extremely skilled in his leadership and communication skills. Are people so blinded by partisan politics that they are incapable of seeing that?

10. An actor with Alzheimer's.
Maybe "The Great Propagandist Actor" would be an appropriate title, but "The Great Communicator" is just a cruel joke.

9. "He ?may have? lead the nation in the wrong direction"
This I don't understand. As long as someone inspires people, it doesn't matter if they are being herded in the wrong direction, for instance, over a cliff?

I don't really care for that kind of thinking.

11. You need to get over your partisan blindness
Obama was giving an example of a President leading and making a different. You need to be intelligent enough to understand that doesn't mean he was endorsing the direction
