Congratulations Barack!

Congratulations Obama Supporters!

Thanks for the good races, Clinton and Edwards supporters!

16. I think it highlights that we really have a tie between Obama and Clinton right now.
Can't fault me for trying to keep the momentum rolling for my candidate.

What I said is true, after all.

3. And Sen. Clinton STILL is in the lead with the most delegates, thank you!!! Your candidate does NOT
have the lead when it comes to delegates (and I'm including the superdelegates in this).

22. "(and I'm including the superdelegates in this)" Of course you are.
Because your candidate is behind when it comes to Delegates based on Primaries or Caucuses.

Right?

19. Ah, thanks very much. They haven't added the superdelegates into...
...the Nevada total though right?

That's what is confusing me right now, whether or not these values always include superdelegates. I'll amend the post.

Clinton, Romney Extend Delegate Leads

By The Associated Press – 2 hours ago

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton edged Sen. Barack Obama in the race for Nevada's delegates to the Democratic national convention this summer, extending her overall lead. Mitt Romney won over half the Republican delegates in Nevada, also extending his national lead.

Clinton won 13 delegates in Nevada on Saturday, compared to 12 for Obama, an AP analysis of caucus results showed. All of Nevada's 25 Democratic delegates have been awarded.

Clinton leads the overall race for delegates with 237, including separately chosen party and elected officials known as superdelegates. She is followed by Obama with 135 and former Sen. John Edwards with 50.

A total of 2,025 delegates are needed to secure the Democratic nomination.

17. That's still too close for my taste, though....I don't want him nipping at her heels for delegates..
Hopefully on Super Tuesday she'll increase her lead even further and help close the deal...

9. Congrats on the delegates.
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 09:41 PM by styersc
Because the votes of the delegates is so much more important then voters.

After all in 2000 Gore got more votes but Bush got more electoral candidates.

I'm not getting the "new politics" thing.

15. Obama's doing pretty good
considering the full tilt Washington power machine he and we are up against.

I see the hillarys are all out on full force moral buster duty..if that isn't a sign of pathetic desperation then they're doing a reasonable imitation.

25. Spin

http://digbysblog.blogspot.com/2008/01/fear-loathing-on-campaign-trail-in-las.html

...

P.S.S.S. OK, I just spoke with Jill Derby, the head of the Nevada State Democratic Party. Regarding the Obama claim that he'll actually get more delegates out of this, essentially that's spin. Derby said that the caucuses are an "expression of the support of Nevadans today." Around 11,000 delegates were elected today. That will be winnowed down at county conventions and eventually at the state convention in May to the 25 that will go to Denver for the DNC. In 2004, Kerry didn't win every delegate on Election Day, but most of the delegates that eventually went to the DNC were his. Once there's a presumptive nominee, the delegate numbers are subject to change. It's non-binding.

If that makes your head spin, the short version is that this was a beauty contest, and you can't project delegate numbers at this time.

...

29. you can't project numbers if you think the candidates will change by April 2008
However, if the candidate remain the same, Obama gets 13 delegates. No bones about it.

30. Exactly. The delegates are very unlikely to change their votes from Obama to Clinton.
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 10:49 PM by Kristi1696
So, unless the Edwards delegates are freed and all go towards Hillary, he won the delegate majority.

ETA: Somehow Edwards got 4% of the vote, but no delegates. In NH, with 5% of the vote, he got several delegates. I don't understand caucuses! (were those superdelegates in NH?)

Then they change the # of delegates when the convention comes.

I don't think his lead of 1 will be anything compared the expected lead of about 300-400 for Hillary after it.
