David Bonoir, Mgr. of Edwards Campaign Thanks Jan 18th Contributors
Source: johnedwards.com

Thank you! On behalf of John and Elizabeth Edwards and our entire campaign, I want to thank everyone who made a contribution on Friday, January 18th. In particular, I want to thank all those from the netroots community for rallying to our side at a time when we need it most. Thanks to you, we received several thousand contributions on Friday - and more than half of those contributions were from folks who had never before made a donation to our campaign.

As a result of your support, Friday was one of the best online fundraising days ever for our campaign. And, importantly, the great majority of those contributions will be eligible for matching funds, doubling the impact of your extraordinary effort.

We appreciate every contribution and every contributor to our campaign. We know many of those who have given to this campaign do so because they see that John is fighting for them - for their families and for the American dream we hold close to our hearts. Thank you for continuing to stand with John, and for helping to get out his message of bold, transformational change.

David Bonior is the national campaign manager for the John Edwards for President campaign.

1. Edwards had no chance of $7 million
Ron Pauliacs were talking about there drive for months.
I'd never heard of Edwards endeavor until 7-10 days before

6. when I realized it was a week before the day that I'd heard of it

I knew must have been a group of grassroots supporters who had kept talking about the fund raising effort til we did our part at DU. This was a great effort by many, and thousands of donations were made - thanks to people like you! Many people know and see that John is the best candidate we have and will win against any GOP candidate - we cannot feel that strongly about Obama or Clinton.

And to the people saying his small percentage in NEV finishes him, realize there's the 15% rule, and in those large areas, he wasn't going to meet that, therefore all those supporters had to pick someone else. And the reason he got the percentages he did get was because he did well enough in the rural areas.

He will do better in OK, GA, and MO. And I agree, he's as viable as Bill Clinton was at this same period, in 92. We will not give up for an Edwards presidency unless John asks us to, and he's said he's sticking around.

If we could get every voter to watch John's 20 minute speech from Oklahoma to the Teamsters last night, I'd think he'd surge - the man was afire!

GO JOHN!

7. The money is good. The best part was all the new people showing them their support
That had to be most rewarding and uplifting.

8. If he stays in, (and I believe he intends to) - should we do it again?
Maybe once a month?

11. What about totals?
Was anything released about how much money was actually donated and what the total impact will be after the matching funds are thrown in?

15. haven't heard totals. Seems no one really has them...
...but it was calculated here to be well over $20K and that's just what could be counted up to a point on DU. There were a lot of other non-DUers who contributed and even others who sent in checks. And Bonoir said it much of it would be matched - so I think it likely helped a LOT and I certainly would do it again!

Hell, Clinton and Obama certainly don't need anymore money. I'll send every extra DIME I have to the guy who does need it: Edwards!

17. A marker, like the Dean bat in 2004, encourages giving.
I don't understand why they don't have something like that.

I also like the idea of a monthly netroots fundraiser. I would give again for something like that.

13. I am very glad to have been a part of it. Whether John wins or not, make no mistake about it,
him just being in this race is, and will continue to make, a great differnce for the future of this country. I don't believe this, I know it.

Go John Go.
