I'm channel flipping and land on HNN yesterday, which has some election coverage, and then, astoundingly, this utterly inane, non redeeming story, to which they devote a couple of minutes. It makes their Britney coverage look Pulitzer worthy.

OK so we've established this passes as "news" on a "news" outlet and leave it at that...However, hmmmm,

the words "weiner poopie" are repeated over and over, while explaining the kidnapped Jesus statue's plight.

I will be listening closely to the R candidates to see if "WP" is doggie whistling. :-)

Poor CNN. When you're trolling for dog poop stories, the depth to which you've sunk makes satire almost impossible. MKJ

2. It was really an attempt to discuss the not only the lack of newsworthiness but the utterly
insulting to the viewer drivel to which we're subjected. I tried to make it funny, but the subject matter, in spite of my decidely lame attempt at humor, is that our standards keep dropping and dropping, whether it's tolerating the loss of civil liberties or the loss of respect for "news" organizations, so that there is no truly credible place to get "just the facts", so to speak.

The Fourth Estate is the only "business" specifically mentioned in the Constitution for a reason. And, the more we shrug off crap like this, the more we lose another Constiutional edict, that of a "FREE PRESS".

And, if laughing about it does it, that's good, at least it's being discussed, but the fact is that the state of "news" these days is just another accepted downturn.

And, the people who write and broadcast this drivel make enormous amounts of money trying to do all they can to dumb down the country.

I swear sometimes, they deliberately put stories like this on the air to see with how much they can get away. :eyes:

5. ... really though...
I live in the town this happened in, and first off let me tell you, in MI it's been a depressing last few years with our economy in shambles. This happens to be shot by a very credible photojournalist. I felt the same initially, but when I contacted the photojournalist, he told me that the station tends to try to air a few light-hearted stories instead of filling their newscast with death, war, and the falling economy. These factors considered I say, "Long live the weiner poopie"!
