Poll question: Which candidate is most likely to hold Bush/Cheney accountable for crimes?
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 11:20 AM by OzarkDem
We're hearing nothing about this issue on the campaign trail, its hard to discern what they would do if elected. What do you think?

Please let us know why you think your choice will or won't.

7. They're not "electable", remember?
This question is for the candidates who think the primary is a 2 person race.

20. Your are correct. I fear that the Democrats are about to ignore
their best candidate. (Edwards)

2. Holding them accountable would be holding the entire Congress
bar 2 or 3. Holding them accountable would make Amurka responsible for more than she can handle. At the moment, she can't even handle what goes inside her own borders, much less making right the "unrightable".

5. Neither. Nor will Edwards. Presidents historically do not
prosecute previous Presidents; they simply change the policies they found objectionable and move on. Seriously, every man-hour spent trying to gain some sort of legal revenge on Bush is a man-hour not spent undoing the damage he has caused.

10. No one mentioned impeachment, your candidate isn't off the hook
but a Democratic President with a Democratic Congress has great power to encourage investigation of crimes and support restoration of Constitutional rights and powers.

Where does your candidate stand on the issue?

12. True. And neither did I.
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 11:32 AM by Occam Bandage
Neither Obama nor Edwards nor Clinton will prosecute Bush once they take office. They will likely restore most (but not all) of the Constitutional rights and powers lost under Bush, but if you think any of them will actually prosecute any member of the current adminstration, you're kidding yourself.

(why did you bring up impeachment?)

17. They are silent on the issue in the Senate
They refuse to talk about it or bring it up, even though the Dems have a majority in Congress.

Why should we trust them to suddenly reverse direction and support the Constitution and holding Bush/Cheney accountable when they don't do it now?

Do you have some examples where either has spoken out about taking action to investigate and hold the accountable for their crimes? They are in a unique position to do so now.

21. On what issue? Prosecuting Bush once in office? Not gonna happen
with anyone but Kucinich, and Kucinich isn't getting anywhere near the White House.

13. We know who's the only candidate calling for impeachment!
It's not JE, HRC, MG or BO! We also know it's not any of the Repugs, including RP!

Go Dennis! :woohoo:

14. Kucinich
I don't believe Obama nor Clinton would do anything to hold Shrub accountable. Just my opinion. I don't hear either of them talk much about accountability.

I have learned how to make accurate political predictions. Its simple. Whatever would be the worst possible choice is what Americans will do. I leaned that from living in the South.
