Jean Carnahan Endorses Obama
Jean Carnahan endorses Obama

By Deirdre Shesgreen
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
01/20/2008

WASHINGTON -- Ex-Sen. Jean Carnahan, D-Mo., will endorse Sen. Barack Obama, the Post-Dispatch has learned.
Carnahan’s endorsement will be officially rolled out Monday. It’s another win for the Obama campaign in courting the state’s top political women, who could play a pivotal role persuading female voters to line up behind the Illinois senator and presidential hopeful.

"While I know and admire all the Democrats running for president, I am convinced that Barack Obama is the candidate best able to unite our nation and restore our moral leadership in the world," Carnahan said in a statement to be released today.

She said Obama will be “a powerful force for change” and called him an “inspirational leader, who embodies the ideals of our democracy and the hopes of a new century.”

13. It was a bad move to mention how many letters he got condemning his endorsement...
I know that he was trying to push the 'race doesn't matter' idea...but did he have to point out that he got more than one letter attacking him on this? lol.

6. Many elected Dems in both Missouri and Kansas have endorsed Obama, but
as of today the only endorsement Clinton seems to have here is from the Kansas City Star.

19. Good column in the Kansas City Star today by Steve Kraske
www.kansascity.com/news/columnists/steve_kraske/story/452401.html

He talks about the slanderous anti-Obama e-mails making the rounds and writes *Slimy doesn't begin to describe this mess.*

18. Honey, I LIVE HERE...
And Trust me , he won't
Missouri has been going Red for a few years, not that I'm happy about it, and in Missouri, HOME IF RUSH LIMBAUGH, even life long Democrats don't like obama.
McCaskill got in by the skin of her teeth and most likely won't be re-elected.
Carnahan was a 1 termer who rode in on her late ( and lamented ) husbands coat tails!

My family has been there for centuries, literally. He'll do fine in Missouri, the whole state isn't racist. Oh, and he's actually winning the rural vote in the rest of the country.

I'm here now, register people to vote EVERY DAY, and that is not what I see.
Also , better make sure Kansas City and Downtown St. Louis is ready to fight the good fight because it would not be the 1st time there have been problems!
Last time the state went Blue was for Clinton Right?

28. Clinton will cheat in another state?
Is that what you're saying?

That's why McCaskill and Carnahan aren't endorsing them. They aren't what they have represented themselves to be.

My uncles, now in their late 70's and early 80s, were union Dems too. Truck drivers. They probably knew your grandpa at some point. :hi:

I simply don't think Hillary can win in Missouri!

So it's smart for Obama to plant his flag in Missouri.

As a Missourian, I say kudos!!

22. Kerry2008, Hillary probably will lose here in the GE if she is the nom.
Especially if McCain is the Repub nom. With Obama the nom ... once people get to know him ... he could take the entire Midwest. It saddens me to see that some voters believe just the opposite: that Obama can't win here but Hillary could.

If we can make up our own minds on who we want to support, why can't politicians?

27. Yes, we make our own decisions, but since so many only follow what
their own candidate are saying and believe and propose, it is good to hear from people who have listened to them all to give us their opinions. It provides perspective in determining why we might vote for who we might vote for.

37. Missouri
We are a swing state. The last time the candiate who carried Missouri didn't win the election was
In 1956.In 2000 we choose our deceased Governor for senaotr over the right wing Ashcroft.Mckassil In
2006 beat Talent by 3 percent(a bigger margain than Tester In Montana, and Webb In Virgina) and she
did It with huge turnout In St. Louis, and Kansas City and Improved showings In rural areas. The fact
of Mckassil, and the Carnahans endorsing Obama should tell that In states Bush won Democrats like
Obama more than Hillary.Look against Mccain It would be tough here but Obama would be a better choice. We have a tough Governor's race here. And to allow Jay Nixon to throw Blunt out of the Governor's mansion we need someone who can excite Democrats.Hillary Isn't It.And remember Jean
Carnahen only lost to Talent In 2002 by 1 percent, and this was a big year for Republicans, and the media was selling Talent as more excepernced than her.
