Anyone See MTPress Today? WSJ Columnist Peg Noonan Declared Hillary Will Unite Republican Party!
Wall Street Journal Columnist Peggy Noonan today appearing on NBC's Meet The Press Declared that the Republican Party was looking for its "soul" while the Democrats were looking for a winner...

Ms. Noonan went on to say that the nomination of Hillary Clinton by the Democrats would be the one thing that would UNITE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

Following this remark the entire round table erupted in laughter... knowing collectively full well that what she said ... IS TRUE! :eyes:

Why is it that the Democrats cannot figure this out for themselves?

MS. Noonan and others agreed also that the Republicans were waiting to see WHO the Democratic nominee would be... Figuring post February 5th they'd have a pretty good idea giving them a distinct advantage in choosing the Best Republican opponent to put up against the presumptive Democratic Nominee....

Pretty Simple to figure out that The General Election IS Pretty well toast if the primary result ends up being as Corporate America has both envisioned and... facilitated. :)

5. Put the crack pipe down, MassDemm.
If she's the nominee, the only way she goes to the White House is through an invitation.

There will be third, fourth and fifth parties running and will dilute her vote.

7. Some of us have been saying that for 2+ years ...
... the GOP could run Liberace as their candidate and Republicans dead and alive will crawl to the polling place to vote against Hillary because of what they think she represents.

The Corporatists, while preferring that their militaro-fascist GOP candidate wins, wouldn't lose much sleep if Hillary the War-Hawk made a 'contest' (cough, snort) of it, though.

I mean, who knew Republicans could be so helpful? It sure is very nice of them to let us know who they think they can beat. It will make our decision much easier. It's almost like they want the Democrats to win the presidency and are giving us a friendly tip about who not to nominate so that can be accomplished. Cool! I mean, what other motive could they have in trying to convince us not to nominate Hillary Clinton? They are friends after all and they only want what's in our best interest, right? Thanks Peggy, I'll be sending you a bottle of scotch!

Anyone who doesn't believe that is in denial. You think bill's a liability now? Just wait. I can guarantee you that the repubs have been on Bills ass for years in anticipation of a run by his wife.
If she is the nominee, she will be trashed out of the gate and brought down quickly.

I'm sorry, but its the truth. Those of you who don't want to admit it has some sort of death wish for the party.

18. Nope. She will split it big time. Women anywhere near the middle...
...will abandon the GOP ship for Hillary. Hillary is head and shoulders better presidential material than John McCain, and GOP women have daughters. Old, anti-choice, nasty-acting, Bush-hugging, war promoting white guy vs. a moderate, highly competent female.

All of the old attacks on Hillary will fail. Most won't even be tried, because they are too old and gnawed. The others will be seen through. GOP women (and a lot of other people) will see that Hillary is not the monster they were told she was. They will look at what Bush has done and won't trust McCain.

Anyone who doesn't think Hillary will divide the party is lying. She is too polarizing. I *used* to like and respect her, saw her speak in person several times, but lately shes turned me off for a variety of reasons (her and Bills use of repug dirty politics, her stance on the Iraq war, the fact that she has no real stance or passion, the way she just follows the public reaction of the moment, she will not bring change in 09 no matter what anyone says). My boyfriend who is a hardcore dem from Ohio said he'd never vote for her in addition to all my liberal NY friends...I think lots of people are not giving the fact that shes polarizing much thought, but will get a badly needed reality check come November. And I'll *hate* to say I told you so.

39. And I care what Peggy Noonan says since WHEN? They all sounded like SEXIST idiots.
She went on in her snotty, holier than thou tone to claim 'Americans want an end to the dynasties. Bush then Clinton then Bush and Clinton? They want it to end, It's not like us.' bla bla bla.....

Sure didn't hear her or ANY of them complaining about a BUSH dynasty when it was Dubya. Now it's an issue?

What about the Jefferson's? Was that an American dynasty to be ashamed of and feared?

This is all BS.

Those clowns sat around that table today basically doing what they love to do best: tell America that people hate Hillary, 'nobody likes her', she's unlikeable, you know-the 'likeability factor'.

I guess they think if it's repeated long enough everyone will believe it or come to feel it I guess....and they'll be right!

One of them actually said after this sexist free for all "but, if you're a voter, how do you oppose Obama "? As in HOW would anyone dare openly or vociferously oppose a black man in the same way because that would be so obviously racist and unacceptable!

He didn't even GET what he just admitted on air....that they were attacking Hillary with sexist garbage, and that they all felt okay and comfy with it.....but no analysis or commentary on THAT!

So, it's OKAY, EXPECTED, ACCEPTABLE to be so openly, nastily, overtly SEXIST in their continual "assessments" that people supposedly hate Hillary (and why?!)

BUT it's totally unacceptable to do the same to Obama because he's black.

HEY PUNDITS, Tweety, Russert and all- Any sexist or racist attack is crap that you shouldn't be promoting! (You certainly are VERY diligent about it in Hillary's case!)

But that's how deep misogyny is. These guys and token women don't even see it in their constant "analysis" OPINION of Hillary as being, why don't they just SAY it, a B*TCH that nobody likes!

HEY, PUNDITS, every time you claim she is unlikeable and keep parroting it over and over, that's what you are doing.

I hate them all.

Look the media doesn't want an easy Hillary win. They want a competition, and lets be real, the media hates Hillary, the only reason shes got such great press the last few weeks b/c ppl felt they were ganging up on her. she boo hoos and then it turns around for her. Do you really think she'll get good press if shes the nom against McCain? No freakin way, the media hates how she shuts them out and then uses them when she wants to. Of course, they don't want to give her the easy win. Its a fact.

Edit: And it has nothing to do with the fact shes a woman, the clintons are just ASSHOLES in the way they treat the media.

50. It wasn't Peg Noonan, transcript here
Michele Norris said it

It starts earlier when they are talking about Republicans being divided and Jon Meacham was talking about what we're likely to see after two terms of one party. He ends with

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22754999/page/2/
And the one person, which Mike Gerson makes this point for us this week, who could in fact unite the Republican Party, is Hillary Clinton.

Which transitions them to Democratic candidates and campaign. Tim brings earlier point saying
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22754999/page/4/

MR. RUSSERT: Jon, you made the comment earlier about Hillary Clinton unifying the Republican Party.

They go on to talk about endorsements from varying areas.

They all agree (Brokaw, Doris Goodwin and Noonan) that Hillary is a uniter (of republicans) and they discuss how much Obama's ability to draw voters outside of Dems will be depending on opponent.

OK, it's coming. You'll see Norris predicts dirty republican tricks now too

MS. GOODWIN: Yeah, you know, I think if the Democrats feel confident that their base can pull off a victory--if, for example, Huckabee were the nominee--then I think there'd be less concern about the independent vote that Obama can bring.
But to the extent that they're worried, as you were saying earlier, about the 50/50 election, what he's shown in every state so far, even those that he lost, was a much greater crossover possibility. Independents wanting him. So if they're running against McCain, who has that independent vote, then I think Obama's strength, stronger. So that's why, again, things are going to shift as we go along.

MS. NORRIS:When you're on the ground, also, you really hear the Republican operatives. I mean, this is a conversation that I actually heard in South Carolina talking about how much they really want a Hillary Clinton victory.
I mean, they actually will talk openly about bringing Barack Obama down a few notches because they want to run against Hillary.
