Hillary vs. McCain...the most boring election in American history
I don't know who's the lamest speaker. Both are old. Both are boring. Both are total corporate establishment. Both are war-mongerers who want to attack Iran. Both are uninspiring. Turnout would be the lowest in American history. Black folks won't have a dog in that race, so most will stay home. I can't help to think that Bloomberg is salivating over this one.

10. Really?
John "100 More Years in Iraq" McCain?!? Um, interesting. Anyway, I think some fail to realize that there are a lot of Hillary Clinton supporters/fans out there who are very excited about a possible Hillary presidency. Don't forget, we're seeing record turnouts this year on the Dem side and it's obviously not all because of Obama. After all, she was able to get more votes than him in New Hampshire and in Nevada. That's not a knock on Obama since he came close, my point is that Obama supporters and/or Hillary haters sometimes seem to forget that she has many people supporting her candidacy.

If Bloomberg makes a big push for the anti-war folks and African-Americans, I think he could pull it off.

Blacks don't have a dog in that race? People don't have to share the same skin tone to like and support a particular candidate!

Lots of them might be happy to support HRC.

25. You're correct, but there won't be heavy turnout
The Clintons have alienated a huge section of black voters. Sure, they'll get a scattering of black voters, but it'll be less than in any Democratic nominee in the past 30 years. And enough might stay home to cause Hillary to lose PA, OH, MI, NJ, and some other states.

11. Hillary would be the first woman in history to be the Democratic nominee for President
I don't see how the possibility of the United States electing its first female president in its history could be seen as something boring.

It is actually one of the more exciting political milestones to come around in quite a while.

18. Yeah, I'm not seeing that.
This election will be important to people who are sick of getting shortchanged like the middle class, people of color, women, and the poor. The America that the Republican party refuses to recognize is rising, and its pissed.

And younger women, too.

If she turns out to be the nominee, three generations of women in my family will be very excited about the race.

21. Pardon me while I rant...
You know what I'm tired of? Petulant partisans who've turned an election that was supposed to be about kicking the Rethugs out of the White House into an election about getting their candidate of choice into the White House. The goal should be to get a Democrat (any Democrat) into the White House, PERIOD. Anyone who has truly been affected and bothered by the last 8 years of Bush rule would never give up so damn easily and seemingly cheer on a McCain victory over Hillary. A McCain victory is only possible if people stay home and sulk rather than vote Democratic and fight to take back the country from the Right. I can't even imagine what another 4-8 years of Republican rule will do to this country!

The main point is that any Democrat is preferable to any Rethug. Anyone who is so willing to give up just because their candidate doesn't get the nomination just shows that they were never committed to real, tangible change to begin with. Now go vote for your favorite American Idol.

23. Actually, I agree with your rant. I'm just not sure what category
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 03:53 AM by pnwmom
you're putting me into. A petulant partisan?

I like all the top three candidates and I'd have been happy to support anyone who was/is in the field. I won't have much of a say in this, since I'm in a caucus state and I won't put myself through that ringer again -- especially since I'll have no problem supporting whoever the rest of you pick out.

All of the candidates have their own pluses and minuses. In HRC's case, one of the things that would make it exciting for my family is to finally have the first women candidate. In Obama's case, it would be exciting to have the first non-white male. I think Edwards has the best health insurance plan and I'd be happy if he is the nominee, too.

So please don't call me a petulant partisan. I'm a partisan, but I'll be fired up for whoever our nominee turns out to be.

P.S. WELCOME TO DU!
