Anybody worried about the DNC's decision regarding MI and FL?
These two states, over the last decade, have been swing states. Since I fully expect the presidential race to be close and for neither candidate to win the electoral vote by a large margin, likely these two states will play a very big part in this election. Michigan has 18 electoral votes, Florida has 25, those are 43 electoral votes that could tilt the election the GOP's way, due to the DNC making those states essentially meaningless in the primary campaign process. I realize they broke the rules, but couldn't the DNC have made a compromise? I think the DNC's indifference to these states could hurt us down the line.

4. It's a remote possibility
especially with a moderate candidate like McCain. But the thing I am most worried about is the undecideds and the independents in MI and FL switching over the Repug side just because the DNC excluded them from the primary process.

7. For the record, their STATE LEGISLATURES disenfranchised them, not the DNC
they knew the rules and decided to break them, even when given a chance to reconsider.

The Dems in those states should vote out of office the idiots that did this to them.

And, if inside baseball would make a voter do a complete 180 on his political conscience and convictions, I doubt they are Democrats.

You're "worried" for nothing.

2. Do you think that is why the GOP created this situation? The DNC did not start this shit
The GOP controlled state legislatures in these states created this shit.

3. Yep, I've been worried about it all along
As a Floridian, I know the Florida Dem Party isn't the best by a long stretch, but it seems the DNC made the worst of a bad situation (though I know they were stuck between a rock and a hard place). But I know the Republicans have had a big head start campaigning there, in a state that's been trending red recently anyway (and that has a very popular Repub. governor). I can understand why certain decisions were made about the primary (and I'm not as immersed in the details as many here), but it's gonna kill us in the general, I believe.

6. As of now
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 06:55 PM by PATRICK
this gaffe would hand the nomination in a very ugly way to Clinton that would scar our chances horribly, worse than HHH in some ways because it substantially breaks the rules, and leave no confidence among the party membership, ill will and GOP looking democratic by comparison. A dream situation for the Bush dynasty to continue. Our primary system is the last vestige or real democratic choice and if blindsided there is little hope in November that an ideal so trounced can prevail for the advantage of questionable Democrats.
