I'd like to see the questions between the D&R debates exchanged...

The Dem debates seem to about Dem issues. The repub debates seem to be about Repub issues.

I'd love to see the Republican candidates nailed down on health-care. I'd love to see the Democratic candidates nailed down on foreign policy.

A few issues are cross-overs: immigration and taxes.

But the questions are posed so as to appeal to each party's base. It would be interesting to see each party's candidate's answer the other party's questions.

that's possible.

But I think journalists today are just shit-stirrers, with little knowledge of history or politics. They want to try to stir up something newsworthy. They want to provoke a fight, or make a candidate say something controversial with his own party.

I'm not sure it was ever any different, but it's fun to imagine.
